He and Burgess are our best CB pairing. Woolfenden in particular is our best defender and it’s a travesty he hasn’t played as much as he should this season. If the team is picked purely on merit he’s a starter. Shame he didn’t cost us £20m. | | | |

I think like almost the whole side, Johnson improved second half. He was very useful defensively late in the game, just never seems too far away from doing something silly. |  |

That's because O'Shea *is* quite sloppy. It's no coincidence we controlled possession and built from the back far better in the first 40-odd minutes IMO.

Woolfenden was excellent. Always looks more comfortable to me when he’s nestled in to two other centre backs - he’s not a naturally mobile CB, but nestled in a 3 I think it highlights his strengths rather than expose any weaknesses.
Also thought Johnson was excellent - incredible engine/athlete. One of them performances that can go unnoticed - but thought he was excellent. |  | | |
