1. £4.50 for a cappuccino in starbucks.
2. The end of the civilised world.
3. Relegation.

Think that just about covers it.

With Octopus energy you get a free hot drink every week from Nero. Small wins!

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Yeah sadly Cafe Neros always seem to be in city centres rather than on the outskirts?

Ive got an M&S cafe, a Starbucks, a Range cafe, a Costa, costa in next, a Greggs but no Nero.

I've found the ultimate life hack to avoid expensive coffee.

Pret do 99p filter coffee. It's not amazing but to the unrefined palate it tastes no worse than than expensive coffee at most chains. Bring you own reusable cup, another 50p off. 49p for decent coffee is a winner.

What I found strange is I used the Starbucks on West End road before the last Town night game, and the latte was 35p more than I pay at Starbucks Canary Wharf. Initially, I thought I was mistaken, but visited the CW store a couple of weeks later and indeed it was cheaper than at Starbucks Ipswich. I can only assume Starbucks has worked out Ipswich is a more affluent/richer area than Canary Wharf and thus can charge more for a coffee.

I’ve got sufficiently angry with myself for repeatedly buying the single use plastic bottles of Califia Farms chilled coffee with almond and chocolate, to start making my own at home. Just make your ordinary coffee, allow to cool, then transfer to your reusable cups and put in fridge.

David Nugent still annoys me. Not the constantly scoring against us but just him in particular.

Starbucks is so overpriced, but at least it’s average coffee and not just terrible like Costa and their bucket of coffee flavoured water approach. When they then charge you £5 or so it’s even worse.

When there’s no other option it’s tolerable but if you’re not at a service station or something I’m glad you can avoid it.

Nero is probably the best of the chains I reckon but not been into one for ages.

Moving away form Coffee one of my pet peeves at the moment is the price of concerts.
When did £100+ become a thing?

It annoys me that normal arena at best level bands are being pulled together with similar level artists to create an outdoor show and then a £40-50 price tag becomes £100+

Or Odeon level bands being grouped together with a similar artist and then playing an arena to push the ticket price up.

Then its the whole £8.00 per pint nonsense when in the venue.

Just a total rip off all round.

Tickets are expensive because less people buy music. As a teenager, I used to buy CDs for £10 which allowing for inflation is just shy of £20. Not sure young people do that anymore. So, bands and the music industry have to make money by charging a lot more for live performances.

Well the established groups etc do, kinda feel sorry for younger bands now.

Yep totally agree.

Lars Ulrich was right to take Napster to court for stealing his music in the late 90's. He was vilified at the time.

I've found an even more radical way to avoid expensive coffee. Rocket science it aint. Buy a £6.25 jar of coffee from Asda, and enjoy at least 30 cups of coffee from it - just over 20p a cup. Alright, there's the extremely difficult, exhausting and time-consuming task of making it ones-self !

That’s all well and good. But if you’re walking along the high street, making yourself a cup of coffee isn’t the most practical thing to do.

You've not taken into account the cost of the electricity to boil the kettle, the cost of the water, or the depreciation in the value of the kettle, all of which surely are an extra 5-10p on top of that 20p a cup? Not to mention the value of the additional 3 minutes it takes to do it yourself, which even based on minimum wage is a cost of 60p itself and therefore blows all other considerations out of the water.

(But I do agree with the sentiment and my first cuppa is always made at home for the train)

You could make it at home and put it in a Thermos Flask like the good ole days. Coffee on demand at a fraction of the cost!

Ok, it might taste like it’s been strained through Donald Trump’s skidmarked underpants, but the stuff from coffee shops isn’t a lot better. Outrageous pricing, takes forever to get served by some bored surly troll and your overpriced coffee is produced after schlurping, gargling in about the same time it takes to construct an Airbus.

Not a massive fan of coffee anyway. Obviously there’s little else abroad but I rarely drink it at home.

Had one at the garage waiting from Mrs Cs car the other day. Satans droppings in a plastic cup. Wasn’t good. ‘Complimentary’ they said. Shame the bill wasn’t.

Hot chocolate works in a Thermos. My mum used to make one with that and one with tea plus bacon sandwiches in tin foil (pre cling film era) when my dad and I went to away games. Add in a club biscuit, a bag of crisps and an apple I never ate and all was well, provided we got a result. Ahhh happy memories.

Totally agree with you - that's why I employ Barbara Knox to carry an urn of water, some coffee beans, a drop of milk, and some sugar.

I do!! The chocolate one with raisins was a favourite.

I think the club was biscuit of choice because it fitted nicely in the plastic Tupperware lunch box.

Coffee sachets and a flask with hot water - simples.

I don't use coffee shops - I would pay £2-3 for a cuppa if it tasted ok, but usually it's £2-£3 and it tastes cr*p.
