I’m a fan of second chances. He’s pushing my limits though. Driving like a tvvat, messing around filming it, doing NOX and with no insurance (that certainly can’t be put down to an impulsive mistake). Not a good look.

But I’m a sucker, so yes I’d be happy enough if we tried to help him. Championship option only though I’d have thought?

Agree, hard work, peer support and the daily involvement would help his stability. Talented abd deserves a second go. We were never judgemental over Crafty Crofty for instance.

I was watching Stick to Football recently where Gary Neville said he more or less stopped seeing his mates when he turned pro at United - sounds brutal but I think Williams would have been well advised to do the same, based on the rumours that have floated around

I’m not up to speed with the rumours, but something’s gone wrong. He could have done a lot worse than shut himself off in the bubble around our club down here. Although it wasn’t from a lack of support down here based on Phil’s report of his recent interview. Sounds like he just couldn’t prioritise what he needed to do here. A shame he doesn’t have the same self-discipline, drive and focus as Gary Neville.

Is there definite knowledge of whether the club were aware or not of the crash and it's circumstances?

Its taken this long since it happened for the full details of the case to be published, to a level that Phil is happy we arent jeopardising TWTD facing expensive lawyers by discussing openly and deleting threads about it constantly ;)

if the club knew of the crash, they probably got given the same line it was just one of those unfortunate things that happens could have happened to anyone, even though Im sure part of the hope with the loan was that Williams would be better off in sleepy suffolk away from the tempations of the Manchester area, so we knew exactly what we were getting in to and taking on. is my take at least, but I could be completely wrong, allegedly.

It was asking a lot to expect Brandon to leave his Manchester cousins behind, but that's what he should have done. That was his chance to make a break and sadly he fluffed it. At his age I believe I would have behaved much the same way. Life was a joke and he was brilliant and bulletproof. Until he wasn't.

God only knows who was advising him, but to have gangsterish trouble following him down to rural Norfolk and then Suffolk was his undoing, at least in terms of profile, image and of course behaviour. Football is a tiny world. If you rent property from players who have moved on rumour soon becomes currency.

When he hit the rocks the weight of lawyers behind him was almost unprecedented to the extent that everyone assumed it was MUFC's way of protecting their investment, which it probably was. It certainly terrified the broader media. Presumably, he's now self-funding depending on the words of his Contract and Jim Ratcliffe's renowned generosity!!

My understanding is that there's more bad news to come, involving a different Constabulary. I hope not. Brandon worked so hard to achieve a level that there are strong and admirable traits in his character. He needs football.

Makes the whole deal seem even weirder. All the PR about how much due diligence is done on players, and then we go and sign Williams right in the middle of an episode like that.

He was clearly quite disturbed during the QPR home fixture, I think his last game, but he played like he was on something and never should have been selected.

The fact Ashton allegedly banned him from the players own celebration says there was a lot of damage control being done.

On one hand, I do kind of agree with this, but it was only due to luck that he didn’t kill an innocent person. As long as he doesn’t get anywhere near ITFC again.

I can see him coming back.

I think the release of that interview was particularly well timed, and the content well-coordinated. A definite 'come and get me'.

It happens - a good friend of mine drove home from the pub absolutely smashed (we had taken his keys off him but he had his spare as well), wrote his car off, 3 other cars which were parked, streetlamp and fence (was a built up area).

Ended up prosecuted, had to pay for the emergency services, street lamp etc.

We were in our early 20s, he's a different person now, and regrets it massively but was not hugely apologetic at the time.

Not right at all, but who are we to judge?

I knew someone who had been drinking at home, had a massive break-up row with their then partner, and felt compelled to get out of the house and go to a friend's house. Stupid, stupid decision, crashed a lovely car they'd just bought into a tree, miraculously walked away from the crash and lost the car, the partner, lots of friends and hit rock bottom.

Turned their life around, though. It was the shock of what they had done that brought them to their senses and moved forward.

So yes, second chances are important, but not everyone learns and changes.

I really hope Brandon does.

Don't get me wrong - am in complete agreement, and it took a number of years for him to earn any trust/respect back from the wider social group - but my point is people do stupid, thoughtless things which can ruin their lives and others in the heat of the moment.

I imagine I would have a different view if I had been driving that Fiesta, but I wasn't.

I'm not saying forgive and forget, but that's different from a second chance, if it is earned.

Glad your friend turned it around and hope that Williams can do the same.

It is also a reminder that addiction ruins lives.
