Musings for next seasons squad 11:36 - Mar 16 with 7436 views | _clive_baker_ | Palmer, Walton, U21 Johnson, Clarke, O’Shea, Woolfy, Burgess, Davis, Townsend Taylor, Morsy, Humphreys Hutchinson, Burns, Ogbene Broadhead, Chaplin Szmodics, Clarke, Philogene Hirst Departures: Axel (regrettably), Delap for big dough. I would accept selling Greaves if we can get the sort of money we paid out and get Burgess tied down on a longer deal. Muric, AAH, Harness, Luongo. Phillips, Cajuste, Enciso, Godfrey loan departures. Slicker or Walton perhaps given they both take a squad place. I think it’s possible Hutchinson goes as well if we get a good offer, but I’d love to see him stay. Need to strengthen in CM & up front. 2 or 3 choice loan additions, otherwise we hopefully don’t need to do too much depending on finances. I would be very happy with that squad and back McKenna to get us purring in the championship next season.

Musings for next seasons squad on 14:48 - Mar 16 by Herbivore | They've looked off it in the Prem but, barring a miracle, we aren't going to be playing in the Prem next season. Last season they were two of the best wide forwards in the Championship so seems a bit mad to write them off. They'll be important players for us next season and both still have time on their side to make the step up to this level in future, hopefully with us. |
Don't talk sense ffs, we need to write them off already as they're clearly utterly useless despite being top end championship players over the last few years.

Musings for next seasons squad on 15:14 - Mar 16 by PhilTWTD | If it's a summer season, like in Ireland, I think. If I remember rightly, Colin Healy was part of the legal case which led to a change in the rules on that front. I think Saudi is through the winter though, although can be corrected if not. |
Is there any part of the game this great man hasn’t influenced?

Really can't see that level of turnover.

Musings for next seasons squad on 14:34 - Mar 16 by itfcsuth | I have seen absolutely nothing to think I’d want Philogene and J.Clarke as our wide man next season. Both have looked miles off it, and physically look nothing like a usual KMc player, which is a real surprise given the importance KMc puts on that aspect. |
Clarke - MOM @ Coventry - that’s the gulf I’m afraid - too good for the Champ not good enough for the Prem.
Musings for next seasons squad on 20:37 - Mar 16 with 1180 views | LancsBlue | There is little point in returning to the Prem in a years time with many of the players that failed to cut it this time around. I can see a large number of the L1/Champ side being replaced. The owners are ambitious and will want to improve the quality of the squad year on year. 'Good enough for the Champiosnship' I suspect won't cut it, they will look to keep players who still have not reached their ceiling and offload those that have. To me that means goodbye to Broadhead, Chaplin, Burns, Taylor, Luongo. H Clarke and Burgess. Departing loanees will save hugely on the wage bill and sale of Delap will bring in good money. Not sure that Davis or Hutchinson have done enough to convince established Prem clubs to come in for them. More likely to go to a promoted club like Leeds. Will keep Palmer, try to loan out Muric (probably abroad) and promote Slicker to number 2 as again he potentially has a higher ceiling than Walton who is on good money, wages that could be saved.

Well I know from the horse's mouth that that's utter woke nonsense. He's just moved back to the area from Manchester and is perfectly settled at Town FFS. Honestly, I hate seasons when things go wrong with a passion. There's always got to be drama or fall guys. It can't just be that we're not quite good enough.

I’ve not said anywhere I’m writing them off. I’m just taking the view from what I’ve seen in an Ipswich shirt, in our system, they look a really poor fit for us.

Why would Baggott and Cam be back ? Nowhere near good enough for an automatic chasing championship team.

But you're the kind of fan who'd take a different view if he was a trendy Football Manager signing from an eastern European club signed for £10m rather than £16-£20m. You'd give them more time to settle next year, no doubt. But because the club haven't gone down the route *you* would take you've automatically written them off. You have. You've not said a single thing positive about Philogene, Clarke et al.

Musings for next seasons squad on 22:40 - Mar 16 with 987 views | Mark | I think aside from Delap and possibly O'Shea, this season's signings will have decreased in value for what we paid for them to varying degrees. I wonder if one or two might need to go out on loan, with us paying part of their wages. I hope we get a decent fee for Delap, maybe £40m if the Man City buy back clause is around that. We will need to recoup some money and bring the wage bill down I would think. [Post edited 16 Mar 22:42]

Musings for next seasons squad on 22:42 - Mar 16 with 966 views | jaseitfc2015 | Why not keep Harness? Scored a few for Derby this season , could be a good attacking option off the bench Not sure it’s obvious Axel goes too? Like everyone else is saying though Delap and Davis likely to go and possibly Omari We’re strong at championship level in all position except for centre mid where we need 2 in I think I’d keep Greaves and just have him cement the partnership with O’Shea and who knows they may be better if / when we return to prem having a season under their belt in the championship Townsend for me is unlucky not to be starting more games at the moment , he impressed me at Villa and I think he should have started over Davis in a few of the recent games - I think he’s better defensively and has the grit for a relegation battle . I think Philogene will still come good Szmodics , Hirst , Broadhead, Chaplin , Omari , Burns will be 🔥 in the championship Alex Palmer has to be number 1, and try to get a good fee for Muric maybe Leeds or Sheff Utd will have him 👌 Harry Clarke too will be good in championship I think we will be fine

Musings for next seasons squad on 07:46 - Mar 17 with 795 views | Horsham | Be interesting to see what approach we take to recruitment. You’d have thought we’d be in a pretty good position to do deals like Southampton did with the Harwood-Bellis loan to perm option that gets activated when promoted. We’re also going to be pressed right up against the 25 player squad limit so there has to be some outs and under 21 signings could be really useful in terms of squad depth. And also we must try and sign Cajuste. Long shot but i think a little bit like Joe said on the BM podcast that it isn’t absolutely impossible…even if it’s probable he’ll get more interesting offers than we can give.

That's ok, just a misinterpretation from you. I don't think it is controversial to say there has been nothing that would make me want to start next season with Philogene & J.Clarke next season - fringe players right now.

Think Clarke has at least shown glimpses in the PL, that he would thrive with us back in the Championship. Given another season at the lower level he could easily step up when we're promoted again. Philogene for me has been the biggest disappointment, looks disinterested most of the time. If we could get most of our money back I'd let him move on.

I think it is pretty controversial to say a 24 year old winger/10 that has scored 25 goals and got 17 assists in his last 87 Championship games is suddenly not going to be good enough to start for us at that level next season. He absolutely took the piss against Coventry in the cup a couple of months ago too.

Either new contract, sell for a fee or risk them leaving on a free transfer. Some might have options but I think there's the following: Walton Townsend Morsy Taylor Burns Chaplin Broadhead
