You do wonder if there's an element of that going on here Where do you see your future Will? He knows what he is doing, wasn't it rumoured Nodge were interested in him before they got the current man

A lot of what he described matched McKenna's style from what I could see, be it with shorter passing at times I've no doubt McKenna is incredibly detailed in what he does One of our players was saying McKenna would tell the players how a game would unfold and it would almost always match what actually ended up happening

to be fair, every football match I watch these days pans out exactly the same as every other match - the way the game is these days. Slow, possession based - dont need a crystal ball to predict | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Regarding the last paragraph - if that’s the case does KM really tell the players that the second half of most matches will see a remarkable drop in intensity with the team not laying a glove on the opposition? Seems a tad defeatist.

I just don't see it with him. He obviously has something and has done decent jobs. But he doesn't inspire me when he talks about football and it's with a different level of depth to KM. I found his presentation reasonably basic for top level (though caveating that with the importance for clear, concise and quick information for the modern footballers attention span!). Seems a good person and I imagine the players want to do well for him. Rohl and Rosenior I think would be better pics. Hopefully not needed for a while!!

Roseniors redeemed himself a bit this season but whilst he talked well, with the squad he had in the Championship with Hull I think he underperformed. Wouldn't be anywhere near my list.

Ashton is their puppet so if they fancy a change it will be up to him to facilitate it. If he stays, I do think if we are not in contention to be promoted around xmas, then he will be sacked.

If McKenna goes in the summer on 11:16 - Apr 22 with 1841 views | itfc1108 | There was a bit when discussing opponents setting up completely differently than planned for in a game, and he said about getting his keeper to go down, so he could get new messages across. I know it happens, but just a bit shocking to hear such open gamesmanship from a manager. [Post edited 22 Apr 11:17]

He's fighting for a Champions League spot and 2nd place in Ligue 1 with a team that finished 13th and 15th in the previous two seasons. Meanwhile, Hull are now 20th, just 2 points above the relegation zone. You mention he underperformed, but how good was the squad he had at his disposal? Delap was injured from December to April, and while Greaves and Philogene showed promise, they’ve proven not to be Premier League caliber players yet. Carvalho has made just three starts for Brentford, scoring only once in the Premier League. Tufan has 4 goals and 2 assists in 29 appearances for Trabzonspor. It's easy to say he underperformed because many of these players moved on to bigger clubs, but besides Delap—who only started 26 games—none have shown they could step up and make an impression on more competitive leagues. Hull weren't in the Prem, if you didn't realize. You're also talking about three players who had £20 mill moves each. Imagine if we'd had that and didn't even make the playoffs.

I haven't seen Rosenior's Strasbourg team but the style Hull played under him was very different to us.

When did I say they were in the Prem? Of course you would be disappointed but the point still stands, only one of them has proven to be significantly above Championship level. Given where they are now, you could argue that he overachieved.

You're appraising them against Prem levels for some reason. Who of the teams promoted would you say has players that have proven to be significantly above Championship level? It's not really relevant they were trying to get promoted from the Championship. Ergo you would be disappointed because he had underachieved. Yeah sure you could argue that he'd overachieved, it wouldn't make any sense though as it's a completely different team.

Of course, the underachievement is being measured against the quality of a few key players and the value of their sales. Four of them are now playing in the Premier League, so it’s fair to assess them at that level and conclude either, "Yes, the players he had were better than that level of competition they were playing at" or "No, they’ve only shown the ability to perform at that level." So, if his Hull squad consisted mainly of good Championship players (as they have shown), Delap (who was unavailable for four months), and around 15 other players who’ve since finished 20th in the following season, can we still consider it an underachievement? I would say no. Anyway, agree to disagree
