The bias from the officials towards the bigger teams is absolutely obscene in this league The yellow card for diving is incredibly harsh and the VAR intervention is laughable. I am so proud of these players fighting like lions against the odds with all the injuries and smaller budget, but smaller teams don’t stand a f****ing chance. Is it corruption? Well if it isn’t then not sure what to call it.

Agree it is blatant bias. It's been obvious all season. The money making teams get all the breaks.

Me too. Something about that pair of decisions today has REALLY wound me up. Corrupt referee.

100% agree. I am. Likewise usually calm but this just takes the biscuit. I am absolutely sick to the teeth almost every week of being on the wrong end of marginal decisions. Don’t get me wrong, I acknowledge we haven’t been quite good enough to stay up this season but come on at least let us compete on an equal playing field from an officiating perspective. I don’t know how the players don’t lose it at times because it is so blatant it’s not even funny.

We're going to be putting the kids out at the rate we're losing players to injury and suspension.

Just wait until we score a deserved, fantastic equaliser, only for VAR to rule it out because Isaak fell over a blade of grass early in the breakaway!

It's a bit like not getting penalties when you rarely get in the opposition area. A lot of decisions are going against us but it tends to be the case when you are second best in matches generally.

Here's hoping next season is the complete reverse as we dominate matches again instead. We really need to build a team ready for making a far better fist of things the following season.

Yes I agree we haven’t helped ourselves at times ad we don’t have the same level of quality as most other teams but what does that have to do with blatant bias officiating decisions against us that makes it doubly harder?

I don't like us moaning and I thought Johnson was seriously stupid.... but this does it for me. Games of football are going to be settled by misused technology and gutless refereeing. The soul and integrity is being sucked out of the game. I'll take referees making honest mistakes against VAR anyday.

The really insidious thing about it is that the decisions go against us when the game is level and we are really in the match. That's when the decisions keep going to the bigger/more established teams. Then after the opposition has taken advantage and got a secure lead, we see a yellow card or two for the oppostion, or a free kick or two for us in the closing minutes so that the officials can say "if you look at the game overall, the decisions were quite even". There is no point in getting some token decisions when the game is already done, it's those game changing ones that always go against us. It's corrupt AF.

A bias that runs through from referees, Var and pundits.
We’ve given it a real go at times but we’re facing more than just the opposition team.

As early as the second game of the season against Man City you could see how it was shaping up. VAR giving Man City a soft penalty and then not even looking at an identical incident involving Davis at the other end. From that point on the direction of travel as far as the officials was clear. Saddens me as football has lost a lot of its magic at the top level.

It wasnt an identical incident. The pen ON Davis was much much more obvious and clear.

Yeah the first yellow is given 50% of the time and not given the other 50% obviously. Same with the Penalty I have seen many of those given and many not given. The referee looked like it was really getting on top of him the last 10 minutes of the first half. I thought he was going to cry to be honest.

Fair enough to him. What would you prefer 49k fist throwing m0ther f#ckers coming at you or 3k? Tough day.

The first yellow was laughable, but whether it is right or wrong, Johnson was brain-dead to get the second one.

The penalty was laughable as well. If that’s the penalty, the ones we had not given earlier in n the season (Leif, Chaplin & Clarke) were stonewall.

But isn‘t that a big part of the problem though? Namely ‘employed VAR officials’ one week are also on field referees the next. It is one big group so they all know each other, which almost certainly impacts on the dynamics of the refereeing and VAR decision making process?

Well I’m not sure why all the downies because what you have said is kind of true.

Having said that,I hate VAR I think it’s fkd the game up it was better before they started using it.

I had been saying all season that 17th was the target, but to finish in 17th place you are going to have a lot of pain during the season.

Sadly we were just not good enough.

We're going to be putting the kids out at the rate we're losing players to injury and suspension.

But why are so many of our players getting injured? Is it training intensity, physical characteristics of our players, bad luck? Out of those possible factors, only the last one, bad luck is not changeable. I hope the club take a serious look at both intrinsic and
extrinsic factors for next season, because you're right, the level of injuries, and the types of injuries our players keep getting needs looking at. Maybe we simply recruit players that are skillful, but lack the physical attributes to cope with the rigours of the modern game.
