Baffling the anti McKenna stuff creeping in 18:59 - May 18 with 2879 views | Nutkins_Return | Obviously for what he has done for this club but even on today he's set up a team which did more than enough to win the game and the players haven't taken the chances. We win that game way more often then not on the balance of the game. Rotten result to stomach but not a rotten performance and wouldn't be putting that on the manager today.

Baffling the anti McKenna stuff creeping in on 19:09 - May 18 with 1974 views | itfcsuth | It’s very simple. If you want KMc out, you don’t have a clue about football. That doesn’t mean you can’t think KMc, players or club has got things wrong this season - they will know themselves they have. But we are a unique football club, we stand right behind our manager, we don’t chop and change at the first sight of turbulence, we know the long term aims, and when you’ve seen the body of work KMc has done over his time here - you double down and stand right behind him!

I’d challenge you on this, you can see in the stadium and hear at away games how much the fanbase is still with the team/coach and I don’t think I’ve heard the team boo’ed once at full time. Any Manager in any league in the world will have questions asked with a recent form of: - 1 win in 18 - 1 home win all season Obviously there are caveats but I’d bet most would have even turned whatever the circumstance. So I think a few threads on a football message board is hardly some massive overreaction.

We gave ourselves very narrow margin for error and this season and it’s not paid off. After two years of rolling sixes every week, it’s always going to be hard to take when we see how far off if we are.

This is where I’m at. I don’t want him out - but we’ve SUCKED since the turn of the year, he has no plan B and the signings weren’t up to Prem level. But he has lots of credit in the bank and I’m sure he’ll/well come back stronger.

And then of course you get the other extreme from a sub section of fans, some that would never criticize or question anything he or the club does. Those then seem to get all offended if someone else does challenge say, for example any in game management or recruitment decisions.

This. Don’t want him gone, but we’ve been awful for 5-6months. I don’t think that’s a ‘hot take’

Reality has been different to expectations even those that had us going down. It’s probably built up frustration and a few trolls for good measure.
Baffling the anti McKenna stuff creeping in on 19:39 - May 18 with 1707 views | Blue_Heath | I'm KM in still but there's no denying he's had a very poor season tactically. Yes the journey, the injuries, fine margins, blah, blah. Make whatever excuses but going to PR this season has been painful. As I say I don't want him out but in truth he'd have been sacked at any other club with results/performances like we've had in 2025. I'm glad we are not one of those clubs but KM despite his heroics prior to this season isn't immune from criticism. I think the crowd have been incredibly supportive, I doubt many other clubs fans would have been?

Does Ashton wear too many hats? Maybe we need a super savvy director of football type to work with them all on the recruitment side as well as seriously developing our international scouting network.

Definitely feels like our staffing isn’t equipped at that level, or the infrastructure - but that’s to be expected given how quickly we’ve risen.

It's not baffling but I wouldn't want him to go. How can you consider it baffling when we have won one home game all season? I think we have to at least give him until Christmas, and hope he can rebuild confidence. He has done brilliantly for us the past two seasons, but when things are going well momentum builds. The test of a really good manager is when adversity strikes, so far the jury is out on whether he has the ability to turn things around. Bigger names than KMK have been chewed in and spat out by the Premier League, success in other European Leagues or even the Championship doesn't necessarily mean you can cut it at Premier League level. And as for the comment about that not being the way we do things at this club, George Burley was sacked less than 18 months after taking us into Europe. [Post edited 18 May 20:01]

I lost count of how many times MA himself said it was great to have O’Leary to ‘calm him down’ or ‘give him another view point’ Now it’s all on him.

Baffling the anti McKenna stuff creeping in on 20:03 - May 18 with 1413 views | Trequartista | I don't think its baffling, even though i disagree with it. There are times when there is not much room for debate like last season where it is was clear to anyone but the deluded that it was a brilliant season. This season, if you look at our points tally having spent £140m, it is dreadful and the other two teams in our position sacked their manager. There is of course the context of coming from League One in two seasons into a strong league of teams with at least 3 years of premier league money spent on them to counter that. So this season there is a wider spectrum of debate depending on how much you feel that context applies. You could reasonably argue any case from "McKenna out" to "all part of the journey, McKenna to lead us back next season"

Calling people divs don't sit right. McKenna's recruitment has not been the best . We have at present won one home game all season. Been terrible in 2025 took 2 points out of Leicester and Southampton. Now if we don't hit the ground running in August and are struggling come Xmas then things will look very different. But McKenna fully deserves the full backing over the summer and to see where we are come Xmas.

He has to take some of the criticism. He isn’t above that. One home win all season. Can’t beat any of the teams in the bottom three, it’s rubbish however you look at it!
Baffling the anti McKenna stuff creeping in on 20:18 - May 18 with 1317 views | blueasfook | If you look at this season in isolation, McKenna has proven to be no better or worse than the managers of Southampton and Leicester. That's without taking into account we were by far the biggest spenders of the three. Personally I dont much care if he stays or goes at this point. Pretty much indifferent is where I am at. I dont think it would be a disaster for us if he and the club were to part company at this point.
