It's interesting as I believe the club still don't know who that user is so proceed with caution I think.
That said, they have been right on a few issues so they've got form for sure.
The academy issue still perplexes me, surely it's not hard to get right.
As for "one of our greatest coaches" they could be referring to Adem Atay maybe as he's out of work at the moment I believe. |

Adem is already at Norwich, he did have dealings with Ashton but think that lot were a little pushed out as new broom wanted to bring in new men.
I wouldn’t ve surprised if that post is talking about Klug, he is almost a Minister without portfolio these days at ITFC |  |

Brentford are a terrible example to use, whenever the key context is around academy.
They are very much a club who have an academy open out of obligation rather than any intent to promote a player to the first team, or even professional football. |
I think that was my point i.e. that Brentford Academy is not where they, in particular, draw their talent from. | |

The increase in investment would seem to suggest they are at least serious to some extent - otherwise why push up costs (225% in the past couple of years)? |
I play football at both Colney(the main training ground) and the Nest - they are both top drawer facilities and Colney in particular has had a number of substantial upgrades in the past 24 months, plus they generally are bringing through players at a decent rate. Not hard to see why he would be attracted assuming he would be going back to his favoured head of academy role. [Post edited 27 May 20:59]

Was wondering that also. Not that one person can be solely responsible for lack of academy products coming through - and the club was a basket case run on a shoestring for a decade under Evans - but with Klug’s age maybe the club see this as a chance to start afresh. |  |

Just reading Phil's story on this, and spotted that Norwich's head of football development is Dean Rastrick.
He was in my year at Farlingaye, and part of the same all conquering* Woodbridge youths team as me in the early 90s.
I don't follow developments in our academy set up, so don't know how important Klug is these days, but he's clearly been an important part of the club for long time.

Absolutely this. This is not the big loss it would’ve been a decade ago.
He’s 64 now, so will only have a few years left.
The best player we’ve produced last couple of years is Cam Humphreys who, as good as he is, is nowhere near the level we currently require in our 1st team.
The 1st team has moved forward so quickly that the academy has been left a bit behind, probably a good time for a reset. |  |

A relatively close friend of mine has been an ITFC academy coach for a number of years.
Over that last 3 years he has been concerned about his salary, barely above minimum, and spoken to Ashton about it a number of times.
He has constantly been ignored resulting in him handing his notice in and moving onto a higher paid role at a lower "ranking" club.
Ashton has now cancelled his season ticket, and also the ticket of his partner.

Yeah, they wanted (and offered) to pay for them, but were told they couldn't.

That Twitter poster has definitely evolved from ITKer to mischief-maker in the last couple of years. I don't know whether they have an axe to grind against Ashton or the US owners, but it certainly feels that way by the tone of their more recent posts. |

Not only legacy staff, but any employee that isn’t used to being pushed to overachieve, and prefer to ‘cruise’ through their working day. | | | |

Just to backup a few who have friends / family working within the academy setup, there is a wide dislike for Ashton.
Which shouldn't be surprising by the way. Anyone who's worked with him in a professional capacity will echo the sentiment that his bullish approach is great for a short term kick but it never works over a longer term.
It wouldn't surprise me if Klug, who by the way has been and spoken to those lot at least twice down at Colney, is half willing to go to them to make a point.
The academy is an expensive side hustle for our new ownership. Not interested in the long term potential gain as it's very hard to solidify. | | | |
