Not really, laughing at the Liam Delap deal shows a lack of football knowledge, especially in how deals are put together. Players, or their agents dictate and run football transfers when it comes to the best players. [Post edited 30 May 8:41]

I laugh at everything Norwich do. I'll laugh at them appointing Manning as manager. I've laughed at every deal they've ever done.
The fact is if the release clause wasn't included he would have gone to Southampton. Remember the Greek bod was never going to come to Town as we were favourites for relegation, and that was the problem Town had. I bet every expert Delap spoke with when looking at choosing between Town & Southampton they recommended Southampton. After all Southampton had been in the PL, the season before, so actually had PL experienced players. Town had to offer the same deal as Southampton.
A lot of Town fans are entitled, they think all we have to say to players is, don't you know we won the FA Cup 40 years ago and every player is going to say, even beg, please let me sign for you. |  | | |

The fact is there were a lot of fans on here 9-10 months ago questioning if we’d overpaid for him. Coincidentally it seems to be the same people now moaning he’s worth much more and it was poor business.
If the release clause was the only way of signing him and we’ve still made a profit then it’s not bad business at all.

I think if this was norwich, the same with us, I’d judge/will be judging the sale based on what we spend the resulting money on.
In my eyes he’s been here one season, and got us £10m. His goals don’t matter in the slightest as we went down anyway. And I have no over riding feeling of ‘he’s a ITFC legend’ because he’s really not.
If we spend £10m on the next wolfswinkle I shall be jolly cross at the whole situation. If we spend it on, or recruit the next Pukki I’m not sure I’d ever remember Delap played for us. |  |

Also, how would you have done the deal? What terms?
Could you point to your posts when he was signed that said he’d turn out to be as good as he is please?
Would you have told his Agent to do one on the release clause, let the lad go to Southampton instead, tell them we are Ipswich so the worlds best players are fighting to sign?
