That wouldn't be a bad shout.

More pride being an issue for Carrick I assume to go from Head Coach to an assistant, but balanced knowing you'd be in a good spot when McKenna moves on?

Yes timing is weird unless they were having a look at replacements before pulling the trigger.

Not surprised to be honest, didn’t get the hype given the quality of their squad and substantial spend (£6m for Whittaker alone). Liam Manning did a much more impressive job but isn’t a ‘name’. Man Utd link is enough to get the media hype train going for Carrick though.

I do think Carrick will want to be a manager again as soon as possible so any coaching role with us would be temporary. Unless he did see the opportunity that realistically McKenna will move on sooner rather than later as well and he might be able to slot in. I did wonder whether Grant might step up but has moved on. Be one to keep an eye on as well.
