Three PL clubs monitoring O’Shea on 07:51 - Jun 6 by textbackup | Speaking to someone yesterday who is has it on very good authority that O’Shea has zero desire to play in the championship, and will be off the first chance he gets. No reason to disbelieve that info either. |
He wanted to look at a house we are selling as a 12 month rental when we were already relegated, obviously can just get out of those and new club would pay the contract off but talking a huge amount of money to lay down for it. SO won't be surprised if he does stay - ultiamtely every single player wants to be back in the PL this season, and if can be in the 17 clubs rather than promoted ones will definitely want it as guarantees them 4-5 year contracts all on PL money without the wage drops

Three PL clubs monitoring O’Shea on 09:21 - Jun 6 by bluesbrothers | I think the problem a lot of the new players have is that they've only been seen in the PL. All the "old boys" have built up a load of credit playing against dross in L1 and then exceeding expectations in the Championship. All the new boys have only been here whilst we've been beaten every week. Personally think it's led to distorted views on player quality |
100%. Said this a lot during the season - sentiment has overridden people's ability to make objective observations. Understandable in a way but it's felt like I've been watching completely different games sometimes the way people have been going on about certain players.

Three PL clubs monitoring O’Shea on 15:06 - Jun 5 by portmanking | Well, if we offered £1.25m instead of £1.2m, they're not going to say no, are they? It's £50k more than they'd get from a PL club. I know he's been on our radar for some time. |
It's the same situation as Delap - do you not think that Man Utd would have loved to have him for £31m? Sure they would. But the release clause forced us to allow Delap to go to any team offering £30m (in the event of our relegation). If the news stories are true, Tanganga has a release clause at £1.2m, meaning his club has to let him go to anyone offering £1.2m. If he doesn't want to go anywhere, he stays. If he wants to go to a team offering £1.2m, he goes there. Milwall do not get to force him to go to a club bidding more than £1.2m. I mean, none of us has seen the contract, but this is what a release clause is widely reported to mean. The club has no power to compel the player to go to Club A if Club B meets the terms of the release clause. As a premier league team will have lots more money than us (and will only have to pay £1.2m for him), they will plainly be able to offer him way more wages. So he then has a choice: does he come to Town, in a lower division on less money, or the premier league on more money? He'd have to seriously love Milwall to go to Town just to get them a few more quid. And if he loved Milwall that much, where would he be next season? Milwall.

I think the point the poster was making, is that the release clause is only for Premier League teams, so not one that we can activate. If we were to bid more than the release clause say £2m before any bids from other clubs, Millwall have a decision to make. Either agree to our bid and gain a bigger fee than expected or turn down the offer, knowing that they may be forced to sell for less, but may get to keep the player. Millwall probably do not want to sell, but would give them a difficult conundrum.
Three PL clubs monitoring O’Shea on 13:14 - Jun 6 with 2486 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | Whether he goes or stays I’d just like to see us with a settled CB pairing next season. There was so much chopping and changing this year, even without injuries it was difficult to predict who was starting. CB’s need playing time together to build up an understanding. Perhaps the were picked according to who the opposition was (either way it didn’t work). Too often felt like we didn’t know what our best starting lineup was.

Three PL clubs monitoring O’Shea on 14:24 - Jun 5 by portmanking | Selling back to Burnley would make the most financial sense. We still owe £7m-£8m in instalments so it could be a mutual benefit for both clubs. |
There was i thinking that the EPL gave you the £100 million in a wheelbarrow and you just paid cash up front. Why are things so complicated? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Looks like Texters has now activated his own fake news escape clause. There’s always something quite mournful about the old ‘Sorry, this user profile doesn’t exist’ message of doom…
