League regulations requires it, unless they've changed with the rebrand and think the 21s are looking for that more senior environment & makes our investment more worthwhile | | | |

I'd imagine the overheads. Probably costs less to use a smaller stadium that is well-filled, than a large stadium that is half-empty

Hear that, but if our decision is to make them play at Colchester instead of Portman Road, that is a stupid decision IMO. It might be cheaper, but everything about it feels wrong. Let them play at our stadium, pay our own employees etc etc. Don't like it. [Post edited 17 Jun 14:22]

I would not go to Colchester, it is in Essex and would not feel right. Felixstowe is 3 miles closer than Colchester and £4 cheaper on the train (day return). The stadium is a few minutes' walk from the station in Felixstowe, Colchester is a 40 minute walk. Felixstowe is an ideal day out on Sunday, the North of Colchester not so much!

I think the incentive is the pitch at PR gets protected. Yes, it's "only" 11 extra games, but add in the U21s and it becomes more.
Yes, you could just say the 21s don't play at PR, but I think the approach towards a 'one club' model and wanting a more senior environment for the U21s will be factors.
Assume if it is all done and dusted, news will be out soon, although it could be that CUFCs take over has changed/delayed things too | | | |
