Major developments for the women's team on 19:39 - Jun 16 with 2768 views | Mark | Interesting: "Next season the top two WSL2 clubs will be promoted and the third-placed team will have a playoff against the bottom WSL side". ITFC Women would need significant investment in the team to challenge near the top, and I think realistically the aim will be to stay up.

I wouldn't think ITFC would move the team to play in Essex! There is an established following in Felixstowe, so I expect they will continue there with more matches at Portman Road.

League regulations requires it, unless they've changed with the rebrand and think the 21s are looking for that more senior environment & makes our investment more worthwhile

I don’t really care for ladies football, but having our new plastic pitch etc, why spend money on Colchester’s pitch, when we have a very durable one at PR.

I'd imagine the overheads. Probably costs less to use a smaller stadium that is well-filled, than a large stadium that is half-empty Edit: Thrilled for the ladies, though. It's definitely a big boost if they get to play at an EFL quality stadium, and it's no further distance than Felixstowe. [Post edited 17 Jun 13:09]

I mean it’s a fair distance for those that live in Felixstowe that watch.

That's true, but as you say, you don't care for women's football, so don't lose sleep over it.

Maybe if you owned both stadiums that would be the case, but renting one when you already own one would be mad

Hear that, but if our decision is to make them play at Colchester instead of Portman Road, that is a stupid decision IMO. It might be cheaper, but everything about it feels wrong. Let them play at our stadium, pay our own employees etc etc. Don't like it. [Post edited 17 Jun 14:22]

I wonder what the reason given would be for not playing at Portman Road now? It's an extra 11 games sure, but Leicester City manage it?

I would not go to Colchester, it is in Essex and would not feel right. Felixstowe is 3 miles closer than Colchester and £4 cheaper on the train (day return). The stadium is a few minutes' walk from the station in Felixstowe, Colchester is a 40 minute walk. Felixstowe is an ideal day out on Sunday, the North of Colchester not so much! I think they either need to make some minor improvements to Felixstowe's ground or move the 11 matches a season to Portman Road.

I'm not sure why it hasn't been announced - perhaps it isn't 100% agreed yet and they're still weighing up the logistics of it, but it was agreed between the clubs and staff at Col U have certainly been told but must be pretty confident it's happening. I think the incentive is the pitch at PR gets protected. Yes, it's "only" 11 extra games, but add in the U21s and it becomes more. Yes, you could just say the 21s don't play at PR, but I think the approach towards a 'one club' model and wanting a more senior environment for the U21s will be factors. Assume if it is all done and dusted, news will be out soon, although it could be that CUFCs take over has changed/delayed things too

I would hope they would do some consultation with fans, as if the established fan base in Felixstowe does not want to travel to Colchester they would need to be confident that enough new people would go to the matches to meet WSL2 attendance requirements. I know a match or two at Portman Road would bump up the average. Colchester feels very wrong to me.

Has the club EVER shown any interest in people who use public transport? The people who will probably like this move the most will be the away teams.

When you say 'attendance requirements' does that mean that the club has to get a certain minimum average attendance in order to remain in the league?
