Thank the Lord for peace in Israel. on 10:43 - Jun 26 by Cheltenham_Blue | I'm not sure how much debate is possible at this stage. It's pretty well accepted as Israeli aggression at this point. The, "yeah, but what about Hammas?" narrative is currently a moot point. |
We could debate whether if they release the hostages it would that bring an end to the war, we could debate whether Hamas installing their military targets amongst civilians gives them some degree of culpability. (I'm saying these are for debate, I'm not saying they are my opinion before i have to rebut 300 replies misunderstanding my point.)

Thank the Lord for peace in Israel. on 09:32 - Jun 26 by meekreech | When we are aware of all of the circumstances that may have occurred at that time I feel that is the right time to pass comment and decide on the rights and wrongs of any of the participants. We are not in possession of any information regarding the events leading up to the situation as partially reported and until we have the experience of living in the environment that is existing in the area we should be more restrained in how we pass judgment. |
Not as if there are any precedents to base an opinion on, is it?

If only journalists were allowed into Gaza to confirm the 'human shields' and IDF only targeting terrorists.

Thank the Lord for peace in Israel. on 10:40 - Jun 26 by Trequartista | Just bad things only from one side though? I would agree currently Israel are committing more atrocities than Hamas, but just continually posting news from one side just looks like activism rather than debate. Not sure that was what the general tab was made for. |
Why don't you post about atrocities being committed in Israel today by external parties. I suspect you'll not be able to find a one. Are you saying because Israel is committing daily outrages they shouldn't be posted about because there are no outrages to post about the other way? That's a nonsensical position. You've gone back to "but both sides" on multiple threads today I see. SB

I'm not commenting about the post in isolation though am I. i.e. It's not about "today", it's about the posting history during the whole conflict which is one-sided and comes across as activism. What is your aversion to "both sides" in a conflict such as Israel / Hamas. Do we have to pick a team and stick to it? I think it's better to assess everything it from a neutral perspective than already be committed to an ideology. That's not the same as saying everything is 50/50 regardless of the facts, which is what I think you're alluding to.

Thank the Lord for peace in Israel. on 10:57 - Jun 26 by Ryorry | It's not just "a few" though is it, it's pretty much daily. I am also "passionate and angry about what is happening there" (as I think most people are). I appreciate he's trying to keep the issue front, left, right & centre in everyone's minds, but there's no need to on here when it's front, left, right & centre of every news bulletin across all media anyway. Many of us come on here to escape the relentlessness of the news. I don't want to stick to 'football only' as I like to hear about other general things. You can't not see threads or posters when logged out. I think the vast majority of us on here are already in agreement with BDD's line on this anyway; however, if I wanted to bring in the tiny minority who aren't, I'd try to do it in a way which encouraged them to engage, not put them off by constantly nagging them (aversion therapy?!). |
If only there was a way to check who posted a thread, what the subject title was before actually clicking onto threads. Imagine not being forced to open a thread….mind is blown.

Leave fookers alone - his ability to triple down on issues is top interneting. GB is obviously an intelligent chap - but his huge ego led him to repeatedly being disingenuous to the point of ludicrousness. So much so that it led to continuous arguments as well as to his departure from here. Hope he’s doing well though. [Post edited 26 Jun 13:17]

What do you mean? Maybe a link to an article from national media and a quote from it perhaps, something like that?
