Depends on your idea of exciting really.

While not glamorous, the biggest sponsorship deal in Town's history while retaining an Ed Sheeran element to the shirts is a big win.

Not even the very limited transfer rumours have got the juices flowing as they all seem so so speculative from unproven sources. Only positive is, it's hot to liven up soon.

McKenna not being seriously linked with the Brentford job was at least a relief but, yeah, it's really been rather dull so far. Not even the signing of Cajuste on a permanent deal which might have made a small difference. I suppose Delap going quickly was also a positive, even if losing him isn't.

All largely a factor of where we are and the players we're looking at and needing to wait a little for PL clubs to make decisions but we are also a month away from the season with some big gaps still to fill.

McKenna staying was the best thing that could have happened.

Townsend's injury is better. So there is that.

Even allowing for an expected quiet period after the season, it has been oddly lacking in excitement.

My concern is how do you get Premier League ready players prepared to play in the championship..
Praying KM has the answer...

We've got so spoilt in recent windows haven't we. I can take the high ground and say everyone just be patient (which is true) but yes gagging for a signing. I think 2-3 in quick succession - it's just waiting for other teams to be ready etc as well.

I tell you what it won't be that is always uplifting. It won't be Cornell, Hawkins and Ward.

At this stage last year we’d only signed Omari and Johnson so it’s not unusual, but think it’s the case of losing your best striker, not getting Burgess or Axel to resign when we wanted them to and just all feels a bit flat

Usually I've been quite a wet blanket when it comes to no news in transfer windows.

But I'm all for waiting if it means we end up with the right targets with the right attributes to help us.

I kinda felt we went bit too player tradey with the amount of similar signings we made last season so I'm hoping we simply see some very astute and carefully planned signings this window.

a niche perspective

A lot of people were using the ‘end of the financial year’ ‘PSR’ stuff as an excuse for no signings the last few days of June, what’s the excuse going to be at the end of the week when we still haven’t signed anyone?

“We’ll get our business done early” though.

Pre-season starts tomorrow.

We always aim to get business done early but we rarely do.

We're fighting for quality players now and they will have options and take time to explore those options.

Some clubs have signed 5+ players. Great. How many would we want? If we were still going after the likes of Giles Coke we could have 5-6 in by now.

From the 2-3 names I’ve heard, we’re clearly gong to be very ambitious this summer, and hence those deals will take time as that calibre of player weighs up their options.

Pretty boring, let's hope they get it right,
People go on about a great squad with the bad injuries and tuanzebe leaving our right hand side is pretty non existent like last season, and that killed us, can't afford to start badly,
I will say Johnson was probably our best player last 6-7 games so I hope his form continues a glimmer of hope for that side,

And time has killed us chasing un realistic causes in a few recent windows, we can I'll afford that this time,
Unless we don't want to go up of course,

Slightly worried we wait for these more ambitious deals and they don't materialise. Then leaves us scrambling at the end of the window after a lot of the more likely targets have already been snapped up.

It's a fine balancing act - go slightly too far the other way and you end up with easy to obtain targets on multi-year deals who aren't quite at the standard we need.

One of the risk reducing factors for us this summer is that we'll be towards the top of the list of destinations for the top clubs to send players on loan - so if we don't get our permanent targets in we'll be able to get some top quality loans.

That’s great if we can pull the deals off, but we can’t spend too long and then miss out and be left scraping around.

Agreed on this - Burgess replaceable but Axel very much not, and if anyone thinks McKenna is happy starting the season with Johnson and Clarke as his two RBs, I think you're mad. He will be plotting something there.
