Wouldn't be surprised to see him playing 30+ games next season.
Ashley Young - medical completed... on 16:10 - Jul 23 with 3377 views | Axeldalai_lama | I started to get a bit pessimistic about this signing, foolishly agreeing with some on here. But on reflection I think it could be a masterstroke. Town were blown away by the pace and power of the premier league and this guy at 39 was up there with his clubs best performers, more than holding his own. Now stepping down to the championship, and probably not demanded to play every minute of every game, he should still knock it out of the park, and bring a lot more besides to the party. And only a year so nothing to lose really. Welcome aboard Ashley. Hope he smashes it.

Ashley Young - medical completed... on 16:15 - Jul 23 with 3193 views | Metal_Hacker | Think this guy will be quite an asset around the squad Worked for the best in the business over the years and will bring a multitude of knowledge and experience with him Watching him last season reminded me how much of an annoying player he still is in terms of pace , strength and know how Can only be a good thing

PL winner FA Cup winner Serie A winner Europa League winner And to still be playing so many games at PL level and to have kept himself this fit, obviously an incredible pro too.
Ashley Young - medical completed... on 16:17 - Jul 23 with 3102 views | blueasfook | Just need Peter Shilton and Alan Shearer to sign now and I think we're looking good for next season.

Do we think he will be back up? Starting 19 games and playing 32, I'd think he might be aiming a little higher given our current options

Remember what he did to us for Everton at PR last season . . . masterpiece in shthousery - something we were very poor on last year. Given a choice, rather have him on our side than against.

We're paying him the best part of £30k p/w I'm told. Doesn't strike me as a back-up salary...

I think he will start at Birmingham and will be very hard to dislodge. Can easily see him starting 35+ games for us.

Surprised that the consensus among a few here is he is going to be a backup. He’s had multiple other championship clubs want to sign him, off the back of 32 appearances in the premier league under 2 very clued up managers in Dyche/ Moyes. To put it into context, at 39 years old he maintained his body and footballing ability well enough to play more minutes than virtually all of our squad, including a guy who might leave for £40m. In this modern premier league, an incredible effort really.

It's fair to say he may be one that struggles with the Sat-Tues-Sat rhythm. But even if he made 25-30 starts - preferably most of which against our main rivals - that would be worthwhile.

Ashley Young - medical completed... on 16:50 - Jul 23 with 2020 views | ArnieM | I hope this works out, because it's probably visiting the club a fortune. This is right on some many levels and I totally get why we might go for him, but hes an injury away from an expensive crock on the books, even if it is only for one season. It'll be interesting to see how he does at Birmingham....and McKenna's intense training sessions. Good luck Ashley, and a warm welcome to Town.

It's hard to see a lot getting past him and O'Shea in that right channel. That was an area where we got caught quite a few times in our last Championship season.
Ashley Young - medical completed... on 16:56 - Jul 23 with 1834 views | Ralphinho | My sources are saying that this is a strategic signing, with McKenna wanting to "Get the Band back together". Its thought that this signing could be the final domino in the line, leading to the signing of our flagship striker. I'm hearing that Rooney is on his way to Portman road as we speak. Not expected until after supper.
