As a player, think he is terrific, had an absolute stellar career, always thought he was the consummate professional.
If we move on one of Johnson or H.Clarke, it will prove to be a really good addition, if we don’t it is a slightly strange one given he’ll be on substantial wages, and it’s not an area we need to strengthen massively, or take up a squad slot.

Not sure on the relegation clause etc or what Young has signed on but I hope not, Johnson is versatile and would be very good at this level IMO.

That's true of every signing though. He's always had a good record with injuries, has played a lot of games at PL level in his late 30s. If we didn't sign someone because they might get injured and we'll lose money on it, then we'd never sign anyone. |  |

Young brings a lot of experience and hopefully, provided he already has his coaching badges, will be a valuable member of KMc’s coaching staff going forward.
Will have to wait and see how we line up. We have three very good central defenders, Young & Davis as wingbacks and in reserve Woolfenden, Clarke, Townsend, Baggott & Johnson our defence looks strong.

Has he says he wants to be a coach somewhere or are we just assuming it because he is 40? I think we need to see the deal for what it is now, a PL player coming in on a one year deal at at the end of his career. You can't play 32 PL games at 39/40 if you're not in top shape, I am not even worried about his age for next year. He will be a great player a level down. he as good enough to start somewhere in the PL. | | | |
