I started to get a bit pessimistic about this signing, foolishly agreeing with some on here. But on reflection I think it could be a masterstroke. Town were blown away by the pace and power of the premier league and this guy at 39 was up there with his clubs best performers, more than holding his own. Now stepping down to the championship, and probably not demanded to play every minute of every game, he should still knock it out of the park, and bring a lot more besides to the party. And only a year so nothing to lose really.

Surprised that the consensus among a few here is he is going to be a backup. He’s had multiple other championship clubs want to sign him, off the back of 32 appearances in the premier league under 2 very clued up managers in Dyche/ Moyes.
To put it into context, at 39 years old he maintained his body and footballing ability well enough to play more minutes than virtually all of our squad, including a guy who might leave for £40m. In this modern premier league, an incredible effort really. |  |

This is right on some many levels and I totally get why we might go for him, but hes an injury away from an expensive crock on the books, even if it is only for one season.
