We need a balance. Button is a quasi player coach and Young is a good experienced pick up on a 1 year deal with very limited down side risk.
It’s shrewd recruitment, they aren’t alternatives to 8 figure CM’s, we’ll do that as well.
And Kieran has form for wanting to add an experience player to the squad, Aluco, Ball and the central defender Keoun ? I'm not sure of the spelling , so no great surprise.
Ashley Young is a super fit young man. I say young as compared to myself he is young. If he's fit enough and he obviously has talent otherwise he wouldn't have been an England international and played for the clubs he has. We shouldn't be so negative. Starmer and his merry men and women came in, put the Country down virtually before they had started. Harped on for months about how bad things were. Now look at it. Things are even worse. If you keep telling people things are bad whether it's football or the Country eventually you will get enough people believing it.
We could have done with the young Young last season. He's got experience that none of our others have. Good signing I reckon. And for the record, I think he starts more than the other rightbacks.
Alternatively, we’ve signed two hugely experienced players who will help the squad immensely. When we’re promoted we can then look at younger players who want to play in the PL.

In short, yes. Although Young will be able to play a reasonable chunk of games. The keeper is a no-brainer. He’ll never play and so it’s all about his experience, work ethic and character around the place. Both are fine, but the reported wage for Young would be an issue for me if it’s true. You could do an awful lot with that money for a decent Championship striker and CM.
