Will Norris and Dai Cornell made those 3 look like prime Buffon, Casillas and Neuer. Loach was dreadful too.

Marshall was the worst keeper I've ever witnessed between the posts, totally incompetent and with very few attributes. Watch the highlights reel from the season after relegation and he single handedly kept us in this division when we should easily have been challenging up top with the squad we had.

None of them have a patch on Paul Overton.

Will Norris was absolutely horrific in his time here.

Scott Loach was also a disaster. Could not deal with crosses. Or shots. Or having to kick or throw the ball.

Will Norris, Cornell was also abysmal.

Sereni and Muric are not bad keepers.

Dean Gerken was pretty awful too. Never left his line for anything!

Jim Thorburn. Signed by Jackie Milburn from Raith Rovers in the relegation season 1963/64. Raith had just been relegated from Scottish Divisvion 1, Thorburn conceding 114 goals in fewer than 34 games. For us, he played 10 games in Division 1 and 14 in Division 2, conceding 59 goals, including 6 at Liverpool, 9 at Stoke and another 6 at Spurs in the space of a month and kept just 4 clean sheets. No other Town keeper comes even close to that.

He'd have been alright if he hadn't worn those tight trousers and insisted on chalking his cue quite so often when the opposition were in our penalty area. Took a bloody age with goal kicks, too.

Big on Grinder these days, they tell me.

Cheery place this at the moment.

How about best keepers? I always thought Paul Gerrard was the absolute nuts, but he probably only played about 4 games.

My dad when watching football if a GK made a mistake he would always say, 'that GK is nearly as bad as Thorburn"

Not sure I can agree on that. He was pretty decent in his time here imo.

Muric is not even close to the bottom, recency bias be damned.

Sereni was a very good keeper.

Marshall’s confidence took a real pounding due to the immature wet wipes who pounced on every supposed mistake he made. Destroyed by the same idiots who abuse Muric - who is also good keeper.

Sereni probably shouldn't either.

Sereni was a very good shot-saver. In every other aspect of the goalkeeper's art he was totally lacking.

People are being a bit silly over Muric. He's not the worst 'keeper we've had in recent years, let alone ever. He had a couple of blunders, but so have others (rahter comes with the job, even at the highest level). He also made some excellent saves. Plus he actually came for and collected crosses, not something we have always enjoyed.

Sorry, but when a keeper repeatedly falls to communicate with the rest of the team he’s supposed to be part of -> they lose confidence in him -> become nervous leading to more errors/goals conceded; not to mention demoralised at leads being wiped out by bloopers, this cannot be dismissed as “a couple of blunders that rather come with the job”. And all pro keepers sometimes make excellent saves.

Point taken about crosses though.

Worst keeper I've seen play for Town is Arran Lee Barrett. Ironically and to his considerable credit he actually punched above his ability massively when he did actually play, but should have never been anywhere near our first team.

Most football fans wouldn't know a good goalkeeper if they smacked them in the face. Muric and Sereni being mentioned in threads like this, case in point.

It’s hard to know how bad Muric is.., you’re right. We’ve probably had a lot worse, at a lower level, with less scrutiny…, but then he’s had one good season in the EFL behind the best defence in that league by a mile.

At best he’s EFL pretty average, at worst he’s a lot worse than anyone thinks.

He’s playing mid table in Turkey and he’s lucky to get that move.

I get a feeling his stature and shot stopping will always see him ok, but he’s not even an average keeper, he’s very poor in some key areas…, I’m not sure how much better Palmer is though, they share some weaknesses.

And the list above contains a lot of dross I’d forgotten about, who are worse keepers, so you’re right about recency bias.

If Hladky was that stature, what a keeper, great with his feet, great shot stopper, agile, and would be better on crosses with some height.

Craig Forrest’s height, Hladky feet and agility and shot stopping…, I’m trying to think of a keeper who was great at taking crosses …, give me a hot minute

Serine and Muric are decent keepers, just didn’t work out that well for them with Town.

The cheap buy keepers in the Evans era were much worse. Division two keepers at best. Norris was awful.

He was very good. He was rpyle solution to the marshall problem wasn't he?

Then came kelvin davis, who was absolute class. Probably the best i've seen. Plug being an ipswich boy and so young meant a lot to us but davis might have been a better keeper.
