I don't see it as a case of who we could have signed since march, but being down the line with options as MA mentioned along the way
Thing is, I get the whole bedsheet thing, this isnt footy manager etc. But there's definately no way KM is happy with the current situation, so imo if the manager is frustrated but can't really publically show it, why is it then wrong for a fanbase to discuss it's own frustrations about it all. It’s all well and good being ‘down the line with options’ in March - which basically means we’ve identified targets - this can be done very early, but that doesn’t mean any progress has been made other than producing a prioritised list.
I’m sure we all get frustrated when things don’t go our way - often for reasons outside of our control I’m sure KmK is frustrated that everything hasn’t lined up and concluded quickly. I’m also sure that Ashton and the entire recruitment team is frustrated because it’s not moved more rapidly.
Why would Ashton tell KmK ‘it’s football manager’ - he’s smart enough to know without being told. He’s also smart enough to know that much of the delay is likely to be out of the club’s control, and that in itself is frustrating.
People are creating a narrative of friction and frustration between KmK and Ashton with little to substantiate this. Maybe there is, or maybe - and possibly more likely - there is frustration amongst everyone in the club of things outside of their control, make the process drag on. |  | | |

What you say is a logical interpretation but there are other ways of looking at it. We are all speculating based on limited knowledge which is of course what fans do.
Taking a post by Rommers at face value Hackney was happy with us but not sure about transferring at another club in the championship. Perhaps he travelled to have a look and a discussion to help make up his mind? Ultimately he decided to stay at Boro, at least for now.
Did Cajuste want to join 2 months ago or is what he said just usual PR now he’s here?

Captain Obvious.
People tell you it’s not Football Manager because you use the delay to criticise the Club or come up with conspiracy theories to fill the void of not being in the know.
But why compare you with what Ashton says to McKenna? Ashton would obviously tell McKenna the actual reasons why - because they’re the CEO and Manager of the Club.
I’m sure all are frustrated, but that’s transfers. Akpom will get done. McKenna would never have said a word about it to the media if he wasn’t confident it is almost there. |  |

Last summer we were transitioning into a new PL entrant. We mostly recruited players that were outside the PL, and offered them the opportunity to play at that level. It was a much easier sell, and we got many of our targets without too much drama.
We're now the team newly relegated from the PL, but still trying to recruit high level players, some of whom have higher tier interest, be it in England or abroad.

Medical did actually throw something out that we wanted to mitigate which required further post fact negotiations

ITFC has not been keen to look past this season but the compatible deal required us to consider a promotion obligation therefore long term is off the table for us but how best to incentivise Akpom in the event that we are promoted ie your own players access a promotion bonus but what about a loan that you don’t own who is already effectively on top dollar then you want to start dealing with relegation clauses blar blar blar
Then suddenly you end up negotiating a £16m obligation for an unknown recent Spainish U21 and that becomes a distraction |
