Whilst not commenting on an ongoing live legal case, more generally, people who attack military planes should be arrested for Treason, in my view. Treason encompasses "acts giving comfort" to the nation's "enemies".
Up to the Judge to decide how to sentence, if found guilty, but that is the offence which most clearly fits the crime. It's not terrorism, because the act didn't intend to induce terror or panic in the general population, and it's not X hundred thousand pounds worth of Criminal Damage, because assets vital to National Security could be impacted and put out of service. The cash value of physical damage is less important than the depletion of military capability.
