Pull your fecking finger out.

Parachute team fielding a starting XI like that is appalling.

Southampton have far better options than we do. We are so short in so many positions.

I'm not sure that's a great comparison. Southampton have spent 12 of the last 14 seasons in the Premier League. It's no great surprise that they have a much deeper squad.

We also have replaced fighters with bottlers imo. We hand-picked players who, 2 years ago, weren't good enough for their respective teams to even make the playoffs when we finished on 96 points.

I do think this is a key point. I said after Friday's game it feels like we had a team which was more than the sum of it's parts, but now have one that's less. Also, I think questions have to be asked of who signed off Morsy's departure before the position had been adequately covered for as well.

We've got Akpom. We've got Cajuste. We've got Matusiwa. We've got Young who straightaway has added much needed experience. I imagine there will still be a couple of signings to come, especially if Hutchinson and Broadhead go. He's not exactly sat on his hands.

How quickly everyone has forgotten what he has done here.

i have not forgotten.

The business we done in Jan 2023 was exceptional and the reason for our back to back promotions along with KM.

This summer has still got some good signings in but as a squad I think last summer is hurting us a little in multiple areas of the squad.

I agree with your last couple of sentences. Ashton should stick with being a CEO/Chair and not a faux director of football too.

Yes, this guy Luke was with him at Bristol as well wasn't he? Don't know much about him.

Remember though, when Mark Ashton tells you to jump your response should be ‘how high’.

And many of the click do,
But when the going gets tough then Ashton gets going,
Funny only hear from him when things are going well,

Where is Ashton. Things going well, couldn’t keep him out of the media. Awful stuff. And frankly, KMc performance not much better.

We do have all them you are right, but if a couple get injuries which is likely, we are then with a squad of players like today who when asked to go out and perform for themselves, the club and the fans turned in a mediocre performance and not capable of beating a L2 side that rested players too. We have got to be better when we need to dig further into the squad when we have the run of back to back games.

Think they will take us apart on Sunday. We need to get through this period in an ok position then just try and build it up again.

In all honesty you would expect a manager as highly rated as Mckenna to be able to get us past Bromley. Something ain't right.

We lost to Maidstone but still got promoted.

He’s not interested in the cups. Beat Southampton on Sunday and this result will soon be forgotten

Perhaps we should call Paul Cook and ask him what 5 players we should buy. KM will do the rest.

Yeah, I would be interested to see a list of Mckennas signings against Cooks, it does feel as though our recruitment has gone backwards

Spot on. When all was well he’d be at the opening of an envelope to get his mug into every opportunity. Still people think the sun shines out of his backside though, looking like a poor transfer window atm

We had plenty of time after relegation was confirmed to suss out new players for CM and ST especially knowing that Delap, Luongo and possibly Burgess would be gone by June. Improve the overseas recruitment.

Yet nothing has been done, once again (so far) another poor transfer window mostly dependent on loan players and selling Morsy before any replacement was pencilled in.

MA seems to have forgotten that Ipswich Town is first and foremost a football club, NOT a sporting or concert mega venue.

Wonder how much time, manpower and effort the "leadership team" wasted on the Wardley match and Ed concerts instead of using them to improve the football side of things.

Letting Morsy go will turn out to be, if not already, an utterly disastrous decision

Very concerning where we have ended up given the apparent money we have to spend.

We had an agreed bud with Boro for Hackney, are we still planning to spend that? If Hutchinson doesn't want to be here, cash in on £35m and spend on players that do want to be here

And given the amount of money we've /spent/.

How exactly can we be this much worse than 18 months ago, having spent this much? I find it baffling. If Kieran had left when we got promoted, and we'd had a different manager for a year and a bit, the job that person has done would be derided.

He's still got credit in the bank for who he is and what he did. Let's hope he puts that credit to good use. Because those first two performances were shonky.

All went to sh1t the day Ashton was given the keys to the whole club. Recruitment is everything and the first thing we truly fooked.

Don't underestimate the loss of Mike O'Leary.

We didn’t even sell Morsy, we gave him away as a thank you ffs!

A fcking thank you.

Had signed a contract, was our player, we didn’t have to let him go! Absolute suicide decision

Absolutely. And I cannot believe how sanguine the fanbase was about it, having professed to love him so much and to think that he was a crucial player for how we played.

Morsy won more points per game in the prem than Cajuste, yet one was binned off for free when under contract, and the other one was stalked with a chequebook round Europe until he finally settled for us.

I said that the day it happened. It was arrogance and there was no justification for it. But maybe it brought more money to the investors in the short term, and I guess maybe that's what really matters.

But good or bad we've long struggled in these early season cup games. They wanted it more, had more confidence. We need to get our mojo back and we'll be fine. Chaplin was good. Ogbene is getting there. Humphreys was good. Young was his usual reassuring presence.defence actually looked pretty solid tonight and on Friday bar that horror show of a goal tonight. Johnson really impressed. If Clarke can get back to his best we've got a hell of a player at this level in this team when it's fully functioning. Likewise Philogene.

We've had a poor start, that's all.

Agree with what many others have said that since Paul Cook our recruitment has been very hit and miss. With a lot more misses. Ashton / McKenna seemed to do well in the January window of our league one season but since then pretty poor, Delap aside.
