Kasey McAteer on 11:58 - Aug 21 by FrimleyBlue | No I get that. Many players have improved. But at the level we were at I wouldn't say any of those weren't good players when they signed.. KM turned those into something more but for me those who maybe came to us as average players remained average players. Ahadme Edwards Palmer I know nothing of this leicester player. But just wondered if there's enough there to be a burns. Chaplin type improvement potential or if hed simply fall into the can't be improved pot. |
One of your best examples of McKenna not improving average players is Alex Palmer? A 28 year old goalkeeper we signed 6 months ago? But you bring this up because we’re rumoured to be signing a player you admit you know nothing about. If that’s not a negative agenda…

He’s the perfect attribute set for our RW role - young, technical, pacey, work rate, eye for goal. He’s very Burns-like. People forget the RW role was never meant for an Omari type, hence McKenna’s reluctance to use him there regularly.

rakeem harper, probably a better shout than the other 2? i think it's a bit unfair to include edwards though as that was more down to injuries. even ahadme was sold at a profit!

Kasey McAteer on 11:08 - Aug 21 by portmanking | I'd heard that McKenna was having second thoughts on signing Egeli, as he was concerned we needed a more experienced head. Perhaps getting McAteer as a more experienced back-up for £2m-£3m (having got promotion with Leicester last season) PLUS Egeli makes the Norwegian less of a risk? |
We buy other 15-20 million pound players with no divine right to be great, this kid has great stats and an international, Seems to me we're player trading on the cheap banking the money,

Kasey McAteer on 11:47 - Aug 21 by _clive_baker_ | Still not sure that contradicts any of those things you said. "Calibre of players makes it harder as there's prem interest". We've seen exactly that with Hackney, presumably that's what he's waiting for and the reason he's not already in Ipswich player. Players with a high ceiling, we've been reliably linked with a 19 year old Norwegian, a 21 year old Spaniard, Cajuste who we will still feel has a lot of developing to do. Matusiwa is a player McKenna thinks has PL potential. McAteer meets that definition himself at 23 and with PL and International experience. |
I'm pretty confident this deal if a main target, could have been done at the beginning of the window, so why not get it done then? The fact conversations have been had suggest LCFC are happy to sell to a rvial, again suggesting they dont rate him too highly. Question: Who's replacement do you see McAteer is a replacement for?
Kasey McAteer on 12:39 - Aug 21 with 1285 views | itfckenty | another man's trash is another man's treasure. seen it dozens of times. club and fans don't rate someone, they go somewhere and perform really well, don't knock the kid until his had a chance.

Suddenly twitter comments are highly informed and relevant when it suits people… From the same Leicester fans who (still) slag off Hirst.

Kasey McAteer on 11:38 - Aug 21 by Blooos | Ashton just a couple months ago - ‘attack the market’ ‘looking at new profile of players, physically etc’ - this is doing neither of those. He’s on paper worse than what we already have let alone Leicester. |
That's Ashton for you all puff and no sail, I may retract this next Sunday though,

Hes crap mate. And technical is a laugh he can barely control the ball most of the time. He does have some pace and makes some decent runs off the ball but on it he is appallingly bad. Leicester fans hate him

Kasey McAteer on 11:17 - Aug 21 by itfcjoe | I always like McAteer, think he is an excellent fit for what we want in that right winger and with Ogbene finding his way back to fitness and Burns still out for a while getting someone in to be able to play that role is very important. Hope it doesn't change anything with Egeli, as think he is more of a wildcard signing too |
Unless by some miracle we can get him for £3-4 million I think it's a very expensive player to sign with limited impact. It's a squad signing but Leicester are gonna ng to want a good fee. I'd be really disappointed with this but if he joins will obviously back him and hope he proves me massively wrong!

I don't think any of those were Rubbish at previous clubs. Townsend was excellent. Luongo couldn't get a break at. Oro coming back to fitness. Morsy, Warnock didn't want to lose him and clearly had excellent career up to then. Hirst had done very well at Pompy but wasn't getting many mins at Blackburn but wasn't 'Rubbish'.

Kasey McAteer on 13:28 - Aug 21 with 578 views | CastroSito | if the fee is reasonable and he a squad option, I don't mind this. Despite being less than complimentary about his ability for the most part, their fans do praise his character and work rate. Something KM can work with I'd say.
