He's pretty two footed, but is definitely right footed

Horses for courses, init. Sometimes these water carrier types allow the others to flourish a bit more. Reaction is of course way over the top to what would be a solid signing.

We still need two more players for those 3 behind the striker as well. We know McKenna likes to have 7 for those positions as we use 6 a game. At the moment we have:

Szmodics (injured?)
Clarke
Philogene
Ogbene (not fully fit/barely played in 12 months)
Chaplin
Akpom (is he a 10 or a striker? Until we get another in, he looks a striker)

Can't see Burns being registered until January.

Kasey McAteer on 11:33 - Aug 21 with 1188 viewsportmanking

Another thought is could we see Ogbene move on this summer? Is he going to have the space to work in against most Championship teams this year?

Could we be moving him on and using that money to buy a McAteer, water carrier type, before spending big on Egeli?

No, but reading between the lines I think he's another one we're looking at for that role and we're assessing our options before making a final decision.

So your saying this would be INSTEAD OF one of Europe's ‘top growing talents’ a bench warmer from one of our rivals.. this is becoming seriously worrying by the day.

This is genuinely worrying if this is where we’re at on our list now.. he’s not good enough for Leicester and they would all be very happy to see him leave.. have to do better than him.

I understand where you are coming from but......lest we not forget that most players under KM have significantly improved (I'm not saying all) as players and people, a lot of players themselves have noted this.

If we take McAteer, on the face of it, possibly not good enough for Leicester under recent managers but under Kieran, maybe he might be a different player altogether.

Just a consideration.

Genuine question, what is it about McAteer that contradicts any of that?

He's a good player at a good age.

He has two goal contributions (1 goal + 1 assist) in club football in 2024/ 2025 season and you guessed it, the goal was against us in May. An Assist in Dec v West Ham to accompany.

Just checked the replies to the news of it. LCFC fans seem overjoyed.
"Take the money and run.."
"Sell, sell, sell.."
"OMG YES"
"Theres no way someone wants him, accept and run Leicester"

If this is attacking the transfer window then I wouldnt want to see a conservative or cautious approach!

I'm disappointed no one's complained about having too many Irish players yet.

Ogbene could be given all the space in the world & he’d still be poor.

Think we're going in for more than one on the right/across the front line then? Surely not replacing Hutch with this guy. Him and another OK but on his own would be a big downgrade.

We've lost Broadhead as well, so you'd think we might bring two in. Having said that, Akpom can play a variety of roles, as can Philogene and Clarke, and we're also up against it in terms of squad size.

Ridiculous overreaction by many on this thread - not any surprise though.

It's not a signing yet.
If we are showing interest, it's likely to be one of very many, and we're keeping our options open.

Stop being drama queens - it's not a 'thing' until a signing is complete.

He's played a fair amount of football over the last two years for someone that is apparently not good enough for them. The whingebags were drooling over Leicester's squad on the opening weekend and opining how they wished our bench was as strong as Leicester's. Now we're linked with one of their bench/occasional starters, suddenly they're crap.

Be interesting if true, however, is this really the kind of player we want to be signing? Leicesters bench fodder?

"Bench fodder"..... When they've had Mavididi and Fatuwa as first choice wingers?
Could be a player that wants to reignite his career under an excellent coach in KM?
I'm not against this one. Not the sexiest of transfers, granted. But quite a versatile player for positions we need. And proven at this level.

Would that be the 'top growing talent' that you posted about being too big of a risk?

So you don't want Egeli because he's unproven, expensive and a risk, and you don't want McAteer either. Somewhat contrary...

Ashton just a couple months ago - ‘attack the market’ ‘looking at new profile of players, physically etc’ - this is doing neither of those. He’s on paper worse than what we already have let alone Leicester.

I'm just speculating, but perhaps, more experience in the Championship and above would obviously be a plus for McAteer. I thought he was very good against us in the game at the end of last season.

How ruthless will we be with those that are injured though? Townsend won't be in. Doubt Clarke will. Doubt Burns will. That brings us to 21 (excluding Button) before any business is done by my calculations.

Not a thing yet, but I think people are questioning the ambition if that is who we are truly looking to sign and the suggestions from John Percy posting (solid on all things LCFC that I have seen in recent years) is we are seriously looking.

OK - here goes and it might be controversial:

Burns, Chappers and Morsy.

All 'massively' improved as players under KM - I'm picking the obvious three here. But you can add a host of others.
