No one is registered yet - that doesn't happen until mid-September.

Kasey McAteer on 11:38 - Aug 21 by Blooos | Ashton just a couple months ago - ‘attack the market’ ‘looking at new profile of players, physically etc’ - this is doing neither of those. He’s on paper worse than what we already have let alone Leicester. |
I’m going to reserve final judgment until the widow closes but, as it stands, if this is attacking the market I’d say our attack has been a failure so far!

If people casually browsed TWTD, they'd think all our players are sh!t, the manager doesn't know what he's doing, and the top brass is incompetent too. What football fans say on a forum and what things are actually like tend to be two quite different things.

Kasey McAteer on 12:31 - Aug 21 by TownieRob | I'm pretty confident this deal if a main target, could have been done at the beginning of the window, so why not get it done then? The fact conversations have been had suggest LCFC are happy to sell to a rvial, again suggesting they dont rate him too highly. Question: Who's replacement do you see McAteer is a replacement for? |
Leicester need to sell due to financial penalties and trying to avoid even greater point penalties down the line.

Tho if you read through the thread, there are quite a lot of positive comments, also. Around things like work rate, utility and, particularly, character. We've seen plenty of people in our squad over the last three years who exactly fitted that over individual outstanding brilliance. Got us promoted twice. A fair number also saying he may do better in an environment other than that they think currently exists at Leicester.

Kasey McAteer on 13:36 - Aug 21 with 750 views | AljoBlue | Looked at Leicester foxes forum and this came up about him: He's got a really weird skill set. He does seem (or did seem, it's alluded him a tiny bit lately) to genuinely be a pretty composed finisher and his runs ghosting off the ball to find space in behind are actually pretty good. Combined with his work rate and his aggression, he probably reminds me more of a mini-Vards than anything else. But not a single coach / manager in his career seems to have ever really considered playing him down the middle so there has to be something in that. Around the rest of the pitch, he seems too undisciplined positionally and not good enough in the tackle to be a full back, too technically limited to be a winger and doesn't seem to have the football intelligence and vision to really be a 10. Just doesn't seem to have a speciality other than running around a lot so...

Kasey McAteer on 11:06 - Aug 21 by Kieran_Knows | Instead of the Norwegian I would imagine? |
I REALLY hope not but probably. We already have Ogbene that we spent 8M on and everyone said would be like a new signing this season. We are playing someone we spent 15M out there currently in his less favored position. Egeli would be exciting so I’m just expecting it to not happen and we’ve moved onto Leicester back up in. Seems like we are going down the list tbh I doubt we’d sign two right wingers with Ogbene and Clarke being played there currently. Decent enough player but the fact we can make this one happen kind of tells our story of our summer at the moment.

So McAteer is a Burns replacement, not Omari or Broadhead. Surely thats more important than replacing Burns right now? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Kasey McAteer on 13:23 - Aug 21 by Nutkins_Return | I don't think any of those were Rubbish at previous clubs. Townsend was excellent. Luongo couldn't get a break at. Oro coming back to fitness. Morsy, Warnock didn't want to lose him and clearly had excellent career up to then. Hirst had done very well at Pompy but wasn't getting many mins at Blackburn but wasn't 'Rubbish'. |
Not the case if you ask fans though! Which was the point.

Well he's contributing absolutely nothing between now and at least November so maybe not.

For fan excitement, yes. But not tactically, no. Omari was our Right 10 - we have Chaplin and Szmodics. Broadhead was our Left 10 - we have Philogene and Clarke. Burns was our RW when fit - we only have Ogbene (as a natural tactical replacement), who is only just back from injury himself.

Replacing Omari is hard because of the level right (he was brilliant) but in terms of attributes we do kind of have that (Philogene especially seems to be as close as you could get). Broadhead is a floaty type that we don’t really seem to have room for atm, but in terms of position is probably closest to Szmodics/Akpom. Therefore I think our business should be about filling gaps in terms of capability or attributes as opposed to just signing a player that is in the same position or whatever. For me we are missing a good right winger, a good forward in the same mould as Hirst and then some sort of wildcard forward option who could be central or wild (and maybe costs a lot of money).

Thanks Chris, I can see your logic. I also stand by my comments that something isnt quite right if we're looking at the Burns replacement rather than Omary, Broady or Delap. If the plan was to replace Burns then why not get it done earlier as this doesnt feel like the first dominoe needed to fall for it to happen. Lets see what the rest of the window brings.

Of course, if they had a modicum of sense, they'd validate the opinions with further research before coming to any conclusion, like the posters on TWTD do. Oh, wait a minute ... ... never mind that thought.

Keeping the money? Apart from having a 20M deal for Hackney agreed? It’s about getting the deals done!

Yes, can accept we might’ve done it earlier, given the Burns/Ogbene situation was known. But RW is the issue. We could get promoted without an Omari replacement at all.

I expect Burns to be registered if he's on track to be match fit by the beginning of November. Others disagree. If we get a Burns replacement in this window, IMO we'll sell Burns next window.
Kasey McAteer on 14:04 - Aug 21 with 367 views | RobTheMonk | I think the big money signings will come, but in the meantime time I guess we have to get some sensible squad options in. I think this is a fair enough squad option.

It depends how much we pay. They rejected £8m from Sunderland last February. That's too much IMO.
