Burley's sacking. 21:14 - Aug 30 with 3923 views | Trequartista | Burley was sacked after 12 points from 10 games after we'd been relegated, 16 months on from a miracle season. Just thought I'd mention it.

Burley's sacking. on 21:18 - Aug 30 with 2780 views | FrimleyBlue | Away at Grimsby if I remember it right. Pising down with rain Cried for days afterwards Difference for me Burley tried even that 2nd season to do it with most of those that got us up and finished 5th. KM has replaced all of them and made us worse as a team ( at present ) As said in other thread november I will hold a formal view. But for now I have a mixed view

I'm not sure KM is solely responsible fir the 'player trading'.

It’s getting tiresome that every time someone makes a legitimate statement or observation , it’s met with this type of comment.

I think it's an interesting comparison for when we get 10 games into this season. Hope we're flying by then, but if not ...

Nah, I think Ashton was keen to spend money to try to make profit. KM would have an input. But not solely responsible

Burley's sacking. on 21:39 - Aug 30 with 2446 views | CopfordBlue | Something was clearly broken at the time and I doubt that many who were at Grimsby that night thought it was the wrong decision at the time. We’re in a different place now, the foundations seem more solid and I don’t feel that KM is only 6 games away from the same fate . Then again, if we don’t pick up some wins soon and performances don’t improve, one really poor performance like the Grimsby one could see the position change. My view is that the owners will act if they feel automatic promotion is slipping out of reach. They’ve not invested the money they have to see us be battling for a play off spot during the second half of the season.

I don't think so. Delap was a lucky punt imo but was one we needed as forwards we were short at Hutch well we already had him so it was just keeping him. But really oshea. Philogene. Greaves. Clarke. All big spending signings wouldn't have attracted big profits if sold. It is clear we simply went for those top of the champ stats in various positions. Ignoring the contribution of their team mates who made them achieve those stats.

Burley's sacking. on 22:03 - Aug 30 with 2228 views | textbackup | I don’t want it to happen… but if come the start of October we still haven’t won a game, you’d need to really start to look at what we are hoping to achieve this season. We could get in the playoffs with a hugely average season, but is that good enough with money spent?

I didn't say he succeeded, but it was definitely his plan. He signed so called top championship performers, thinking there was profit in them. I would have liked to have seen the old crew given more of a chance too. 👍👍

If we went up then yes. I'm trying to be pragmatic because I do thing with the player turnover it's really hard. On balance of play and stats etc we should have more points but equally we've not been firing how we want. Going to be a difficult 4-6 weeks and we need to scrap for every point we can get until we are in the groove! I've got complete faith in McKenna. I hope we don't get to that point like you say when there will be real o.pressure on him.

Sorry to contradict you but I absolutely think KM is a goner if we don't win any of our next 6, or even just 1 of our next 6. His losing streak is just too long.
Burley's sacking. on 22:15 - Aug 30 with 2130 views | bsw72 | That was his second relegation with us, after the first he then failed to get promoted for the next 4 years before finally winning the playoffs. Basically he was given 5.5 years to build a PL team, achieved 5 place and then it fell apart. The context of the 2nd relegation and subsequent sacking are completely different to where the club is now. [Post edited 30 Aug 22:16]

Who's been sold in order to make a profit MM? Some have been sold and made a profit, but I doubt any have been sold just to make one. Delap and Hutch both wanted to play in the prem, Broadhead wanted to go to Wales. Thats it isnt it?

They’ve said on several occasions that KM has the final say on a player. Were they both telling lies?

Right now, in approaching 4 years, KM has taken us from 12th in league one to 20th in the championship.

bobby robson took us from 12th to 19th in 3 years, after that my memory fails me! 4 games with half the new squad not up to speed is not a reason to disregard two promotions quite yet!
