Hey Jude pre match.. 22:58 - Sep 2 with 5915 views | Blooos | Can we all agree this needs to be binned now? Gets all the away fans up and is used by about 50% of the other clubs in England. Get Come on the town playing as they’re kicking off instead!

Hey Jude pre match.. on 23:20 - Sep 2 by stonojnr | did you see any flames on Saturday... ? also I cant say I heard the Derby fans singing hey jude, maybe you sit nearer them, but it actually sounded like the whole ground was singing it, because its that kind of song, anyone knows the words to it as opposed to a handful of people who will sing EEJB, or any other dirge from the past people suggest. because sorry theyre not crowd atmosphere songs, its like Everton playing Z cars, they only do it now because people would moan if they stopped, but it barely has any appeal to people who were born 50 years ago. how is it supposed to appeal to the current generation of fans let alone the next. and if EEJB was such a popular song, it would be sung on the terraces all the time, and its not is it ? so why should we play it pre match. as an example I went to see Boston Red Sox last year theyve a tradition of playing Sweet Caroline during the 8th inning stretch, so what according to your rules everyone plays Sweet Caroline dont they, so they shouldnt because everyone does it, its tired, its cliche, and yet everyone knows the words and they had 36,000 odd fans singing along to it and it created a great atmosphere. fwiw Id prefer we went back to Two Steps from Hell or Ninja tracks pre match, but Im liking the early naughties flavour Chemical Bros segueway into Fat Boy Slim. I also think the PA does a good job too. but its easy to criticise. |
EEJB is sung at away matches basically every game And the north stand have at least tried to get it started multiple times in recent memory at home games

This is brought up regularly but as mentioned, in the upper you don’t have any time to hear it and by the time you do it’s over. It’s fine for a one block or when you’re in away sections but for a whole stadium to join it needs to be a different type of song I see Perfect is being touted as cheesy again and just don’t understand it? It’s not a cheesy song in any way shape or form. Bubbles at West Ham is far more ‘cheesy’ !!! Surely?

I like the song but it’s not a football song is it? The first verse and chorus: I found a love for me Oh, darling, just dive right in and follow my lead Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet Oh, I never knew you were the someone waitin' for me 'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love, not knowin' what it was I will not give you up this time Oh, darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own And in your eyes, you're holding mine Baby, I'm dancin' in the dark with you between my arms Barefoot on the grass while listenin' to our favourite song When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath But you heard it, "Darling, you look perfect tonight” It doesn’t really scream ‘Uppa Towen. Get stuck into these c**ts’ to me.

Any more than "Why why why Delilah" is a football song or "Mull of Kintyre Oh, mist rolling in from the sea" ? But Both clubs have a strong identity with them. [Post edited 3 Sep 21:59]

Name me a football anthem that does scream "get stuck in"?
Hey Jude pre match.. on 02:13 - Sep 4 with 353 views | Olcol | This comment is quite sad, I am a long time supporter living in Australia since 1982. I clearly remember singing Hey Jude for the first time in 1975 against Leeds at an FA cup match at Portman Road. It was strange that it was sung spontaneously as if everyone had done it before. I had never heard it sung before then. It was our song up until 1982. We did not need prompting by the pa etc. I believe that is OTT.

Change the lyrics then. I found a club for me Oh, Ipswich, just dive right in and snap someone's knee Well, I found a club, one i'd kill for in a heartbeat Oh, I never knew it was the Ipswich waitin' for me 'Cause we were just kids when we wore C P, not knowin' what at tw*t we'd be I will not wear Stone-ey, this time Oh, Ipswich, just smash them all, blood their heads with your elbow So on and so on?

Anyone suggesting Perfect needs to give their head a wobble, would be banter era esk. Imagine going to an away ground and the home crowd is singing that as the players kick off, would just laugh

If you played the first couple of lines over the speakers and then cut the music I think that would be perfect. My name is Edward Ebeneezer Jeremiah Brown, And I'm a football supporter of Ipswich Town, Where ever they play, You'll find me, I haven't missed a game since I was three (cut music) With my scarf and my rattle, And my big rosette, Singing where was the goalie, When the ball was in the net, Follow the Town, Up or down,(always shouted loudly by the crowd) I'm Edward Ebeneezer Jeremiah Brown, And everybody calls me Ted... In my head that would be great. There have been some really good renditions of this all over the country in recent years, if you could get 20k people belting out "Follow the Town, Up or down" that would be really good imo.

Do away fans laugh at Stoke fans singing a Tom Jones song based on the Biblical story of Samson and Delilah? Or the Forest Fans singing a Wings song about a remote part of Scotland? Or Wesh Ham fans singing an American Broadway song about blowing bubbles?
