Kipre or Greaves next match ... on 08:57 - Sep 28 with 2183 views | _clive_baker_ | Greaves probably, fresh legs and all that. Kipre hasn’t played an awful lot of football so I think it makes sense to put JG back in Tuesday in that respect. Next Sunday will be a big call though.

Kipre or Greaves next match ... on 09:00 - Sep 28 with 2144 views | SheffordBlue | I think due to Kipre's lack of game time (he was cramping near the end of the match yesterday) that Greaves will come back in Tuesday. Going forward I think we might see Kipre come in for specific games (like Edmundson did sometimes) where there is a really physical CB - Bishop was just bouncing off him yesterday. In general I think he'll continue to prioritize Greave as he often adds an extra man in attack.

Kipre or Greaves next match ... on 09:03 - Sep 28 with 2114 views | franz_tyson | I think he'll go for Kippers. Mistake replacing Burgess with Greaves last season.... and Greaves has not improved ( ceiling or not). Kippers's shirt and up to Greaves to earn it back or Kippers to lose. Big kick in b0llocks if Greaves comes straight back in.
Kipre or Greaves next match ... on 09:04 - Sep 28 with 2107 views | Churchman | Greaves. Basically he’s a better player and regardless of whether that is a correct I think the defence needs leaving alone. Only by doing that will their understanding improve. Kipre? He did fine. He’s a massive bloke. I laughed in the first half when one of the Portsmouth players looked like he might square up to him after a challenge. Good luck with that, mate!! Kipre is a great character and a solid player. A good acquisition and if he plays, great. He won’t let anyone down, but he’s not the most mobile or skilled on the ball hence my choice of JG. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Kipre or Greaves next match ... on 09:32 - Sep 28 with 1962 views | homer_123 | Players for the occasion? They had a lump up top yesterday and Kipre is the guy you need. Greaves might have not been so effective. As I said yesterday though...Kipre on the ball nowhere near Greaves level. Two really good centre back options that allow for rotation and choice depending on oppo. It's not always either or.

This is my view - if we had not already used most of our subs I think he might have been subbed yesterday as he was cramping - I think young brought some energy gels on for him when that switch for Davis happened. Can’t see him going again in such a short period. I also think Greaves is a more natural ball player and his left footed passes swing away from the touchline for Davis as opposed to Kipre’s where there is less margin for error. What Greaves should have been watching carefully in Kipre’s play was that when Kipre ended up on the deck (not very often), the other player did as well - so often Greaves ends up falling over and the other player is free to play on. This is my biggest frustration with him. The other thing from yesterday was that O’Shea seemed a lot more progressive with Kipre alongside bringing the ball out - I assume he was told to take more of that responsibility in Greaves absence - would like to see more of that with Greaves and O’Shea taking turns to be more progressive (but not at the same time!)
Kipre or Greaves next match ... on 11:31 - Sep 28 with 1691 views | Sarge | I’d play Kipre against Norwich, he looks far less likely to make a clumsy tackle or give away a penalty. I know their chief cheat was sold to Porto but still can’t take that risk. If that means Greaves against Bristol then so be it.

Not going to suggest Baggott then ?

Kipre or Greaves next match ... on 16:28 - Sep 28 with 1225 views | DJR | Mick Mills said you couldn't make a judgment on Kipre because of the lack of quality of the opposition. The only thing I would say is that he perhaps wasn't as dominating in the air as I expected. But that could be down to match practice. I think it will be Greaves. [Post edited 28 Sep 16:29]

I had thought Baggott might be on the bench.

Whilst he may not have the skill level JG has he just needs to get it to the middle and let them do what they are paid for. Not directed at your comment but just generally I don’t understand why people think every player needs to have every asset. Each player just needs to be great at what they do and if that’s putting it in row Z to stop an attack that should be enough.

The other thing that occurred to me - when we were going well in the Prem (there was a time…), what seemed to be working really nicely to get us out of trouble and beat the press was the triangle of Greaves, Davis and Cajuste. Admittedly that was before JG’s injury but I remember many occasion them playing their way up the pitch really effectively. I know Mick Mills likes to talk about his two player partnerships, but this three player connection could be really good for us if we want to progress over the year.

Yeah exactly this. Young had to bring on one of those energy gels for him.
Kipre or Greaves next match ... on 10:31 - Sep 29 with 464 views | Bluemike31 | Has to be Kipre, was very good for the most part while Greaves has had a few errors in him. A lack of game time for kipre can only be remedied by playing games surely. To be dropped again wouldn't be great in my opinion.
Kipre or Greaves next match ... on 10:32 - Sep 29 with 451 views | ThatMuhrenCross | I thought Kipre was excellent against a physical striker in Colby Bishop, but Greaves is very much his man. I think he’ll get another chance.

It's a good point though (bar the wrong day). We've played a pretty high line in our defence as we pretty much always have under McK. Sargent versus Greaves would worry me.
