Nodge doubling down on annoying their fan base… 15:16 - Oct 3 with 3873 viewsMatt_Netherlands

One of the changes involves relocating a good few thousand season ticket holders to move the away end. Interesting to see how it works given we’ll be doing something very similar soon.

Not sure why they need a fan zone though? Might be handy for family gatherings and birthdays I guess.

In fairness the new away end looks a lot better.

Will finally be able to see some Ipswich limbs

When I view videos from clubs trying to improve their facilities etc I’m reminded just how lucky we are at PR. Close to the town centre pubs, the railway station and the club is also fortunate to have substantial land for a proper fanzone

In all seriousness, fair play to them putting away fans behind goal in their equivalent of lower Churchmans. All clubs should be forced to do similar.

Doesn't look like they'll be needing to burn anything down for this particular phase of redevelopment.

Thought the current trend was to move away fans out of camera shot.

From this graphic looks like they want another “snakepit” (lol) right next to the away fans.

Watching a bit of their game the other night, they seem to have been moving quite a lot of home fans out of camera shot.

The fan zone looks like it can double as market stalls when not in use on matchdays

Interesting positioning of speakers or is that vocal supporters?

This is the long long term plan once the new Portman Stand has been completed.

I think our original plan was away fans to have Portman Road side of South Stand top and bottom tier using the turnstiles off Portman Road and us to have the tunnel side using the turnstiles through the Staples car park.

Their changes are all about more hospitality options for sure, we have the Three Lions lounge, they'll have the three relations, one woman lounge.

Reducing capacity by putting in more hospitality and kicking out fans from long-standing ST seats.

Just had a look on the OinkUn and the club's gullible fan distraction plan seems to bearing fruit.

The top three threads are moaning about some minor ground changes that were apparently dressed up as being good and big rather than bad and small (not sure of the details, tbf).

The next one is about willies (I didn't open that one for further detail).

And you get down to the fifth before they start crying about Nunez.

because Town have never done anything like that ? or did I misunderstand all the complaints about the Cobbold stand moves last season, and the super extended press box in the west stand.

I feel for any fans, including them, who have enjoyed the same seats and the friendships they’ve made since forever being forced to move. Interesting timing, if things don’t improve on the pitch some might call it a day rather than move plus they’ll have trouble filling the increased corporate area.

Shooting towards an away end at Carrow Road will be brilliant. Not sure the logic behind it for them.

You misunderstood. Both were done because they were premier league requirements (increased away fan capacity and increased press area) so there wasn’t a choice. This is completely different, moving fans so that you can sell their seats as ‘premium seating’ is purely about profit and very much a choice.

Isn't that the long term plan for Portman Road? It will be a while but when the Cobbold rebuild takes place I think the away fans will move into part of the SAR and will stay there when the new stand is finished.

I don’t think anything’s been confirmed yet but they’d obviously have to go somewhere while the stand is built. Once it’s built, if the corners are being infilled, I’d stick them in the corner to reduce their impact and for easy access to and from the train station

Its incredible really isn't it, a number of times I've seen it suggested away fans get moved to the North Stand end, to generate that atmosphere, which it absolutely would do.

Norwich have this exact set up, but are moving away fans to the other end of the stadium to "create a better atmosphere"

Upsets me a little that we weren't sat in the new away fans section to watch that Tommy Smith playoff goal.... that end would have looked insane on TV. And the Chambers header (but we went on to draw!)

Nodge doubling down on annoying their fan base… on 10:32 - Oct 4 with 837 viewsPinewoodblue

I really don’t understand why Norwich are even considering these changes.

Ask any away fan if they would rather be behind the goal or on the side, close to corner, and they will all almost all say behind the goal.

Similarly it would be stupid if Town were to place away fans in the lower Sir Alf, although it will no doubt be necessary while Cobbold is developed sometime in the next ten years.
