Are we worrying about Egeli yet? 22:18 - Oct 17 with 3397 viewsDegausser86

For the cash, is it going to just worry him and get in his head and it's never going to happen or have we seen glimpses yet? I don't feel like I've seen glimpses yet?!

He's 19. Maybe we should give him some time? He's only been in the country for a few weeks.

This.

I’m worrying about Akpom not a kid who clearly has potential

He's started 3 games, sub in 2.
I'd be delighted if he was tearing it up, but I'm also realistic.

So why is he starting? In a big game. Arguably the biggest game of the season so far? Surely he isn't ready. If he's starting, he should be performing?

He's a young kid. We have others his age just making there first steps with non league teams etc.

He's going to have quite a few games like tonight. For me it's actually his first poor performance but to be expected really. Might have been a game for Mcateer on reflection.

If we pass him the ball a bit it might help.

We are so loved up with our left handside we refuse to entertain the idea of hitting egeli.

Most frustrating also he was free at the back post 4 times in the first half and we kept clipping it to hirst and hitting the defender.

Spot on Frimmers. Every time he eventually gets the ball, it's too late as he's faced up by two players. Countless times he's in space and we don’t get it too him early enough. This tippy tippy style is frankly boring. We rarely attack with any pace. When we do, that's when we look decent.

Is he racing to the top of the bedwetter haters list? Let’s see if we can hound him out. Worked with AAH and Muric. Go for it! Well at least until you can start on Philogene again.

If you’ve not seen glimpses yet you’ve clearly not seen him play. Certainly not live and close up. I have.

He will be a very good player one day. That’s obvious to anyone who chooses to look. He’s young, in a new country playing for a new team that really isn’t functioning yet. The cash paid has nothing whatsoever to do with anything.

Give the bloke a chance. Oh sorry, I forgot. This is 2025 ITFC support with its sense of entitlement matched only by lack of patience.

That's the problem aswell with playing a right footed lcb.

That diag ping from greaves to egeli is a handy ball.
Can fake pass to the left and loft over to the right. Not the same for kipre.

And cajuste seems to play like the pitch slopes as he always runs towards the left

Exactly this! He just needs to build some confidence beat his man few times and he'll come good
I'd like to see Young playing behind him, a little more attacking and so he can also have some on field/ in play coaching, Furlong doesn't offer much support going forward

Hence I asked a question. I don't get to go and watch. I'm basing my question from what ive seen on the telly. Is the forum always full of people wanting to turn on their own fans?! Might not bother.

Great point. I'd like to see this pairing!

He is just a kid, had some good touches in the Norwich game. Plenty more to come from him if the fans get off the players backs as there will be from others. I wanted KMc to come out in the interview tonight and take responsibility to lift it from the players. I think he got it wrong tonight, whilst it made for a good game for a neutral it was to end to end. We needed to protect the ball a bit more and soak up the pressure because trying to outplay teams away is costing us.

You and Frimley are right on this. He does need the ball sooner. He has quick feet and can spot a pass, but I’m not sure receiving the ball surrounded by two or three is going to achieve much.

The comment about pace is right too. I’m hoping that as the team progresses the players will know where each other are without looking. That’s how the team of two years ago did it, but it took more them half a season in L1 to learn it.

Back to Egeli, I am interested in what people think his best position might be. Further up the pitch? A 10? I don’t know enough about him so it’s a totally open question.

Obviously only going by highlight videos, but i actually think he might end up being a Kane type striker, so im quite surprised we are playing him on the right when he has the passing ingredients to drop in the hole and bring others into play and with development and confidence the ability to hold off the defenders, Maybe being the striker, dropping but then playing in Sammy S for example who loves being the 10 who bypasses the striker. So you may end up getting the best out of two players. And I mention Kane as when Kane has gone roaming, he's put in some incredible passes to fellow team mates, Son for example in his time at spurs was on the end of some amazing cross field balls from Kane

He was a wand of a left foot, so it's criminal not to make the most of it, but im unsure if the right side is the best place to get it as its quite limited on what he can achieve out there esp when he doesn't have a Davis type fullback overlapping him to allow him to drive inside.

No. Young, settling into a new country, what he's shown so far he'll be just fine when he's settled in, injuries aside and all that.

The unchallenged shot from 10 yards that he hit 20 yards over the bar summed him up!

Just start Jayden there and start Clarke ffs

RIP Sir Bobby

Move philogene from his best side of the pitch to his worst?

Also. Phili booted one over from close range too.

Teams like Brighton who sign young talent don't play them for a while until they settle, maybe they go on loan for a bit and they slowly build them into the team over a longer period of time.

Just because we paid x amount for a young player does not mean he is going to come good instantly.

19 year Endrick is available on loan from Real Madrid, so it takes time and he is suppose to be the best thing since insert player here _________

Not worried in the slightest. Egeli needs a run of games to improve. He has zero competition down the right, and yes I'm talking about McAteer, so we should continue to give him starts.

And anyone who is, is peak clueless.

While I'm here, anyone getting steamed up and vitriolic with him at matches (are there yet?) is a total moron and should fook off.

If we are going to worry about any signing it is Akpom. I had to just check the subs to double make sure he actually played as he is a hider.

At least he can go back to his parent club, file under KP.
