What exactly does he do? Or offer this team?

Haven’t seen anything special from him that warrants him starting week in week out

Ran his socks off showed some nice touches and will be a great player for us in time.

Needs a goal, but has been very good otherwise.

Jesus.. some people on this forum will applaud anything. Yes he’s just a kid but how from that performance can you say he’s been very good? Constantly receiving it back to goal, never on the half turn, passes it backwards 95% of the time. Haven’t seen anything to suggest he’s a winger.

He’s just moved to a new country as a teenager and finding his feet in a more physical and fast paced league. He’s lacked composure at times and not quite had the confidence in the box. However, there’s plenty of signs that he has a lot of talent. Got a hell of a switch on him, he done all the right things on the late breakaway which should have led to a goal as well.

Remember how long it took Philogene (someone who’s done it at this level before) to get going in a blue shirt.

I do wonder if he might eventually play in a more central role.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

He looks like a 19 year old lad who has moved to a foreign country and looks a little lost. Should be brilliant late in 26/27 and beyond and bear in mind he'll be 20 or 21 years old, puts things into perspective a bit.

Shouldn't be under the pressure he is right now, should be coming on 65 minutes in and using his energy to hurt teams late on.

That driving run at the end showed why I think he'll end up playing centrally in the 10.

He's going to be great and he was pretty decent today.

I would probably agree he doesn’t look like a week in week out starter currently - but I’m not sure he should be, just a lack of depth and quality in that right hand side that is forcing the issue a bit.

He needs time to adjust and develop, but certainly looks a talented boy in flashes.

Most people (including his manager) seem to appreciate that he offers something to the team. I think he is far better defensively than I expected and (so far) less effective as an attacker.

Funny how people see things so differently, I thought he had a really good game today, showed some good link up and hold up at times and played some beautiful cross field balls to find Leif. Frankly if it's between him and Mcateer it's a no trainer at the moment.

I don't think stopping them training would be wise.

What is this OP smoking. He had a really decent game and needs space to keep developing. Stop with these ridiculous threads.

I know it's early days for him, but I've seen about two bits of skill that came to nothing so far.

He's settling in and still far from the finished article, but I think once those long distance shots start hitting the target he'll be brilliant for us.

Even now though he's showing some real brilliance. He is doing those long distance (accurate) passes that Chaplin used to do that opens play up for us and is invaluable.

Ipswich fans: Why don't we use the foreign market at all, we should do what Brighton do and buy young talent.

Also Ipswich fans: Why don't these foreign players hit the ground running, what a waste of money.

This is the issue with bringing young players in from overseas, they will almost always take time to get properly up to speed. Brighton have a system where they bring players in who are slowly bedded in, sent on loan, and start to look the real deal a year or so down the line.

Egeli clearly has bags of talent, but it is clear that he's playing a more reserved game at the moment, and I'll guarantee that as the season goes on he'll offer more and more.
