I know it's childish, and I know the Ipswich-Norwich pendulum will swing this way and that til the end of time, and I'm aware the guy really needs to help us get promoted above all else ... but the whole Nunez thing is as hilarious as anything that I can remember and I really can't get enough of it. It just keeps giving and giving.

I think it's time for another airing of this great classic.

Like NCFC itself, it just gets funnier and funnier every week:

This is spot on. I have never celebrated a Town goal like I did with Núñez's second yesterday.

I just cried with laughter and tried to stop my sides splitting when he thumped the badge in front of our fans in celebration.

It's all just fantastically brilliant if you love/hate our rivalry with little Nogde as much as I do.

EDIT: Nogde, Nodge, scum, sucm... whatever.

I watched their game against Hull..
Just when they thought the day couldn't get any worse. Up steps Nunez, TWICE...

I could feel their pain from up the road and I felt all warm inside..

Of course, they'll brush it off with "We've got more important things to worry about"
But you just know, its killing them inside...

The keeper and wall were Sunday league level. First one was an excellent hit but a decent keeper should have that covered. Second one, the wall left him a lovely gap to aim for but they were so shocking that even though he didn't find the gap, they still managed to deflect it in for him.

Glad I wasn’t the only one to notice. Keeper shouldn’t get beat for the first one in that corner, that’s the point of a wall.

Why? Why is it "painfully obvious with him" more than any other player?

Just seems such an odd thing to bring up when we've won 4-1 away from home and he's scored two. If you can't look on the positives after that you might as well give up on football.

I am positive about his performance yesterday and his ability.
Just seeing how he went ott after the Norwich match made me feel he has little lasting loyalty or feels any different about playing for us than he would for any other team.
Understandably he was just basking in the adulation.
That's all

The way that the thread went from “Loving how funny the Nunez transfer is turning out to be” to “He’s only looking out for his own self interest” is peak 21st Century online discourse.

Well yeah, he was basking in the adulation. And it was a big thing switching from Nodge to Town, so that adulation was always going to be there. But I don't see how that has any baring on how loyal he'll be to us in the future, or why that would make him any less loyal than any other player. Or why you'd bring it up after he's just scored two free kicks. It's almost like you're scared of enjoying him in case he breaks your heart.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Without wanting to sound like a doom and gloom merchant, I think too many fans are hung up on this 'loyalty' thing nowadays. In my opinion, football has moved on. It's very much a business, it is to the club and it is to the players. As long as everyone turns up and gives their all for as long as they employed for the club, then that's enough for me.

Is it anything to do with the username maybe? I'm sure Mjarjtijn would be quite happy to see Marcelino banging 'em in.

All players leave clubs at some point, even if it's only to retire. As you say, enjoy these moments now, there'll be plenty more to come from the smiling Chilean assassin - and every one has double strength enjoyment because of its bidirectional impact on East Anglian football!

It will be even better if moving him up in to the 10 is a deciding factor in us clicking as a team.

We look so much better with a creator in that position, someone who can get close to Hirst and link play between the midfield and attack. Szmodics is a fine player, he cannot play 10 in this system. Nunez can and its hilarious that up the road Norwich are crying out for someone like Nunez.

Poll: Will Paul Lambert be Ipswich Town manager on the final day of this season ?

He could be the worst player on the pitch every single week and I'd still say it's the best money we've ever spent purely for the comedy value. It really is the gift that keeps on giving.

As much as I hate them, I can't fathom the anger levels they must be feeling right now. Even during our darkest days with Evans, we never once did anything that bad imo.

We didn't, although to be fair in those days we never had a single player that Norwich would have considered buying, they were all crap!

We appointed Lambert, who had been very successful as Norwich manager, but was poor for us.

He took them from League One to the Premier League and kept them there.

He took us down to the third tier (albeit without having the whole season) for the first time since Sir Alf took us out of it.

Nuñez is beginning the payback, in my opinion!

Let’s not kid ourselves here.
He’s only here until something better comes along.

Like every player. Who cares? If he scores ten for us this season then leaves for £15m, we've done well. Having players who *love* Ipswich is great, but it didn't make Wolfy stick around and neither should it, really. They've got careers to think about.

Do your best while you're here, help us get better and make us some money. No harm in that.

Thought he was class in the 10 role on saturday. Kept the momentum in transition and distributed very well!
Gave us something different that perhaps we have been lacking.

I so admire the precise enunciation of the word "sh!t".

You just don't hear singers these days put so much pride and respect for the wordsmith's craft into thoughtfully and properly delivered vocal work.

Live in sad times, we do.
