| The state of politics in 2025 19:55 - Nov 9 with 5257 views | TNBlue | Laurence Fox is a tw@t for sure, but for an elected member of Parliament to resort to such petty and nasty sniping is pretty depressing. | | | | |
| The state of politics in 2025 on 19:58 - Nov 9 with 3001 views | Mullet | This is pretty tame stuff to be honest. Given the vile stuff Fox has targeted her with, as well as all the other stuff he's done to others, it's not fair to blame her too much for giving him some back. The amount of right wing MPs tweeting abuse, conspiracy theories and whatnot at and about people surely deserves far more ire from you? Especially as it's been going on so long. | |

Laurence Fox is a nobody basically and certainly not somebody I'd expect to behave with a bit more dignity. But yes, lets do some whatabouterry and move on.

How is it whatabouttery? If this is your level for disgust, where have you been for several years? He's certainly not a nobody is he? We all know who he is and what he's done after all. Seems very much like you're playing the woman not the role of MP with this.

Given the amount of racist abuse she gets online (including from him), I think it's fair game for her to give some back. Worth bearing in mind that two days ago he tweeted (about her): "This foreigner has no right to wear the poppy. Or to sit in parliament, for that matter."

As I said in my first post, I find it depressing that an MP would resort to being abusive to someone on social media. Its nothing to do with it being Zarah Sultana. Id be equally disappointed if my own MP made such comments online.

It seems weird you'd pick this one as an example given what Reform and former Reform MPs tweet towards people, as well as their WAGs et al. that something as softcore as this gets you posting on here. I'm sorry missed your thread on this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c79vqy8jyj8o

Abhorrent yes. But not something I personally saw. I am commenting on something I saw myself this evening and found disappointing. Not sure why you keep trying to shoehorn in other examples? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That’s probably correct, but do we want someone who potentially could run the country to be going all in on ‘yeah, but your mum smells more’ in front of all of us? He’s not worth the hassle, that’s the sad thing. If he’s abusing her on there she should report it. If nothing’s done she should leave the platform (as any person who doesn’t support a Nazi saluting agitator of violence on our streets should do).

As a public servant, she needs to use all these channels. It’s not orthodox of course to respond like this, but I’d rather an MP stand up for herself especially given what he is and what he has said

Exactly my point. I think you have to be thick skinned as a politician on social media. Negative comments come with the territory. If you sink to the level of people like Fox, you've lost.

If "Your Party" are running the country, there are probably bigger issues to worry about.

A strange hill to die on certainly. Complaining about a pretty harmless response from a female muslim Labour MP. Again why her I wonder??? hmmm [Post edited 9 Nov 21:58]

I do think the left have been too passive in fighting some of the nonsenses going on from the Hard Right cultists Polanski seems to be giving it a go and gaining some traction Labour haven't quite got to grips with the cult of celebrity either and I do think the general public are not very switched on with politics, they are easily seduced by a 'character' Nigel Farage has deliberately furnished that celebrity element to try and gain traction politically with idiots and you do fear it has worked to some extent When you layout his vision and policies beyond his immigration ticket, it would horrify many [Post edited 9 Nov 22:41]

I disagree, I think anybody with any sense of decency in them should be calling out the likes of Fox and letting him know what a disgusting little weasel he is. Good on her.

Polanski has said he will try and convince Putin to give up his nukes. He is not a serious option. Utterly deluded. The Greens and 'Your Party' are a joke. They will take some votes away from Labour/Lib Dems and give us more chance of a Reform government. Both will be a footnote when the next election is in the history books. [Post edited 9 Nov 23:43]
