| Why is watching England on 18:41 - Nov 16 with 1313 views | MattinLondon | They’ve made it meaningless by winning the previous seven matches and not conceding. Today is just an effective away performance - sign of a good team. | | | |
| Why is watching England on 18:42 - Nov 16 with 1313 views | Zx1988 | It feels like there's a mentality issue that's pervaded the setup for years and years. Other top European sides regularly stick 7+ past the minnows, whilst we always seem to labour to a 2/3 goal win. The smaller sides must up their game for England in the same way as they do against France/Portugal/Netherlands/Germany et al, so it must be an England thing, no? | |

| Why is watching England on 18:42 - Nov 16 with 1295 views | J2BLUE | Too much football so games are half paced. Club managers pile on pressure not to overuse their players. Understandably. Not sure what the answer is. It's always dull outside of big tournaments. | |

Eh? We are away to Albania who are second in the group and will be in the play offs. Our goal difference of 22 is bettered in Europe only by Norway, and they have a robot striker up top.

They've spent all match saying how tight and organised Albania are which seems to have been the case yet England are still winning. If we keep a clean sheet tonight we'll be the only European side to qualify with 8 wins and zero conceded which isn't all bad.

You have incredibly odd takes on almost everything.

| I thought there was some positive in the game on 18:49 - Nov 16 with 1228 views | unstableblue | Albania were well up for it and stretched us But what I like about this Touchel side is that they can go up the gears quickly, they press and hassle in packs, and there is at times some real urgency Also feels like there's some competition across the pitch now. Getting rather excited about the Summer in Trumpistan | |

Not really true - Germany only managed to score twice against Lichtenstein and Croatia only beat the Faroe Islands 3-1. You still get the odd 7,8,9 nil but in the main the minnows are a lot harder to beat than what they used to be.

Okay, fair point. I take back what I said, and there's probably a fair amount of confirmation bias in there. I didn't realise Albania were, comparatively speaking, so good and, by the same token, I agree that Portugal sticking nine past Armenia definitely stands out more than the Germans labouring against Luxembourg.

| Why is watching England on 19:16 - Nov 16 with 1079 views | Sarge | Because this game is on instead of domestic football which everybody overwhelmingly prefers. If all the WC/EC qualifiers were played in the summer people would actually care, or if not care watch it anyway because they’re starved of football. | | | |

Focusing on the times England have laboured against supposed 'lesser' sides, whilst primarily seeing all the times that said sides have been battered by the other 'major' European sides.

| Why is watching England on 20:26 - Nov 16 with 917 views | Vaughan8 | I've not watched an England Friendly or qualifier for years and years. Must be 10+ years now. We expect them to qualify and the good games are not very often. I did watch some of the Scotland game the other day and the 2 ireland games. They're so much more exciting as they is some sort of outcome either way. They're aren't as good so are now involved in vital games at the end. England are just quite good and the teams in their group just aren't even close(though I thought Serbia would put up more of a fight) | | | |

I rarely bother with them. I did watch 10 mins of it last night and it looked like a practice game. Total waste of time. A minus waste of time for Burnley with their reputed £20m striker carried off. Each to their own with the farce that is qualifiers. I am certainly not interested in the other British Isles countries any more than they are in England. If our players come through unscathed, that’s all I care about. I do enjoy the tournaments themselves though and watch as many games as I can. Somehow mid season, internationals feel an intrusion. As for England being quite good, I can’t comment but we’ve plenty of good players and hopefully we’ll be competitive in Trumpania next summer.

Good point. Then the hype kicks in that we’re Seven unbeaten going into a tournament. When we then meet the top sides, we’re left looking Second best.

People really underestimate how good the national team has been in the past decade. We've been pretty unfortunate not to win a trophy and have been very consistent otherwise. We have really good strength in depth which is unusual for us as well.

I have no idea how any England fan can complain in the past few years, we have made the final of the last two major tournaments and just qualified winning every game and not conceding one goal. Under McLaren’s we didn’t even qualify in 2008 and Hodgson out after group stage in 2016.
