January.. a striker. Please for the love of god. 21:56 - Nov 28 with 2294 viewsThe_Romford_Blue

Someone who can poach a chance.

Hirst is a shadow of his former self and Azon just hasn’t got the finishing boots we need.

Desperately need a finisher in this team.

There was nothing to poach. Hirst worked his nuts off too but didn’t get any support.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

If we had a top class striker, we would be sniffing after Coventry at the least.

We need to create chances for strikers before we can say they can't take them.

For the amount of money ploughed into this team, we're abysmal for the most part.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

We have the players already, we need someone to motivate them, or put a rocket up their @rse. McKenna does neither.

Hirst, imo for what it's worth, had a good first half. Did everything a centre forward should do.

This - you could get Harry Kane in but if he’s not getting the ball he’s not going to score.

That Walton was the busier keeper tells you how little we created (and only scored with a set piece).

There was one to poach but Azón is very reliable in front of goal to our detriment. We should have equalised between 85-90'.

Think hes previously played with more support, players passing to him.

Much as I love Billie jean and JC, they do have a tendency to put the blinkers on, and go solo perhaps more than they should. JC's constant running into players, falling over and getting annoyed when he doesn't get a foul is starting to grate on me.

Need far more than a striker.

George Hirst was outstanding in our 23/24 season, he hasn’t become a bad player overnight, would suspect it’s a few pieces around him that don’t fit the puzzle.

Apart from a couple of touches in the second half I thought Hirst was awful again.

He got 2 or 3 half chances. The old Hirst scores at least one of those. A good striker at this level scores one of those. The sole striker in a team looking for automatic promotion scores one of those.

Bring back chappers

Trio behind Hirst far bigger problem than Hirst himself, as has been very evident from pretty early on.

The players don’t fit, they aren’t particularly good enough, and lack any level of cohesion.

Makes you realise just how good Burns - Chaplin - Broadhead were, disrespected in the end.

The only natural trio with balance I can see but can’t be implemented until Jan 1:
Burns - Chaplin - Szmodics
Hirst

I’m not going to single out the only ones who actually score, and criticise them. I’m not sure we’ve seen as much from McAteer, Egeli, SS, Akpom, Azon.

Problem is the 3 behind Hirst. They are so inconsistent. Nunez’s first touch tonight was dreadful and the wide boys were largely anonymous

Been played RW.

Simpleton view to suggest how someone is doing elsewhere is going to be the true reflection of how they will do with us - that’s recruitment, putting the right pieces of the puzzle together, nobody has fitted our system in the 10 than Conor Chaplin under KMc.

Baring in mind J.Clarke, J.Philogene, C.Akpom, Szmodics were Championship galaticos at other clubs, look distinctly average for us.

No idea what is going on with his touch this week.

I was thinking the same regarding Hirst. Nowhere near the level of the player who bulldozed the Barnsley defence in 2023. I’d start Akpom at Blackburn.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Let’s go get Kayden back too while we’re at it as the right side doesn’t seem to be working
