Im just about to take my daughter to the Brixton Academy to see her favourite band The Last Dinner Party. Thats a great venue for a 1st timer. Mine was Shakin Stevens at the Ipswich Regent.

Give him a ball and a yard of grass

Slade in their "till deaf do us part" tour, at the Ipswich Gaumont in March 1982. It was so load that the sound of car engines in the vehicles passing by when I exited the concert seemed muted.

I envy you for that Meadowlark. I love Lindisfarne and have seen them over 25 times now, but only saw them the first time in 1987. To have seen them in their raw, long-haired prime would have been a dream come true.

Senseless Things at the Ipswich Caribbean Club. 1992.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

It was the Be Stiff Tour at Leeds University Refectory on 4th November 1978 but if you are talking about a headline act, it was the Jam on 12th November followed by the Clash on the 18th: the dates of all gigs there are up on the Leeds University website.

I never subsequently saw two such iconic bands as the latter two in such short succession.

I think it was Iron Maiden at the Gaumont in 1981. There is even a rough bootleg upload of it on Youtube.
Pretty sure it was Maiden, might have been another random metal band. Or it might have been UFO.

The Kinks at Guildford Civic Hall when I was about 16.

Couldn't hear a note of the music, only the screaming of a thousand other teenage girls - I didn't, couldn't see the point, and never went to another gig again.

Ozzy Osbourne at The Gaumont 1980.

I boycotted Ozzy, because he split from Sabbath. Probably a stupid idea of mine at the time. Don't suppose he was too bothered.
