Looks like he will be going out on loan in January. Any chance he drops to the Championship? If so we’d have to be in a very strong position being able to offer regular starts in central midfield in a promotion run. Can’t see United loaning to anyone in the 5-15 positions, so I’d think it’s either to a bottom five club, abroad, or the Championship.

Apart from wages which for me wouldn't be the main contributor

The guy could IMHO quite easily jump into West Ham , Wolves , Burnley type scenario

Can't see him dropping down to us in this league

Perhaps even another one who flirts with Italy for a a few months

No, because he will still think that he has half a chance of going to the world cup if he plays regularly at a decent level.

Given how many of their players are going to AFCON, maybe Sunderland will be interested.

He's heavily wanted by Conte at the Italian Champions Napoli, I also read that 12 PL clubs were interested in him too. There is absolutely zero chance he'll drop down a a division

I’m surprised no one has replied to ask why would we want him when we have Jack Taylor though

Not sure if you’re serious but he is way way out of our league.

Thought he looked decent last night from what I saw

Blimey. That’s, er, optimistic!

He was supposed to be off to Napoli on loan but Amorin blocked it. That probably gives a clue to the level of club he’ll end up at if he does go out on loan.

Sorry, downvoted by accident. Would be an incredible coup, but it's not happening.

There's a joke in there about Kalvin Phillips somewhere, unless that was it.

Lol it's unlikely, of course, but the difference between the Premiership and Serie A is bigger than between Serie A and the Championship. He'll likely go to a decent Italian or German club, but the top end of the Championship really isn't that far off some of the better European leagues.

To be clear I think it's unlikely - but there's a weird thing going on with Amorim and his future at United. Amorim doesn't seem to want him to go on loan with a buy option, but he definitely wants him out on loan - that's going to put off a lot of suitors. If he ended up with three choices: a mid-table top tier French or Italian club, say, stay on the bench at United, or come to a promotion contender in the Championship, then I don't think the choice is so clear cut. Obviously if a top six (or so) side in one of the four big continental leagues will take him on a pure loan, that works best for everyone.

Are you going to pay his wages ?

Hate this type of comment. Irrespective of any possibility of Mainoo dropping to the Champ, most clubs taking a player on loan never pay 100% of a loanees wage. Do you honestly think Barnet are paying all of Slicks? Or the Blunts paying all of Ogbene’s?

“Are you going to pay his wages”? Is right up there with, “if you don’t like Marcus Evans, why don’t you buy the club”

Absolute bobbins.
