For me nothing beats a nice warm sugary ring but how do you like yours? full of jam, custard or smothered in icing?

Doughnuts are feature of Chanukah.

In the mainly Jewish firm of solicitors I worked in, people used to bring them into the office to share.

And it was poignant to hear a survivor say that the Chanukah gathering in Sydney was meant to be about light and doughnuts.

You're absolutely correct, but with one exception: fairground / seaside hot ring doughnuts, which are up there with Jam ones.

Day old, and they spend 10 seconds in the microwave to get rid of that "crispness" (bonus that the jam is then warm too)

Keep them anywhere and they start to go stale after a day, the crispiness you enjoy is it going stale.

I’m not that fussy tbh but I do like those little darlings you can buy at t’markets that are hot caked in sugar I can eat a bag full easily,then I usually feel sick after,but it’s worth it.
