All these negative moaners …. 09:06 - Dec 27 with 1258 viewsbackwaywhen

When the team above in second spot could only achieve the same 0-0 scorline at home against Blackburn .
Millwall away is a tough gig at any given time ……stop moaning for Christ sake !

Some fans are never happy .

Whilst the final ball was often disappointing, I thought that was probably our best away game of the season in terms of control.

Admittedly, Millwall had some chances early on but thereafter we largely dominated things.

Is does put one in a bad mood listening to whinging when we got a point away to a team who were 5th and we are in third.

Clean sheet, better team unlucky not to win, hardly deserves the epic entitled moan going on every time we don’t win

What is your counter to the posts made.
I dont feel theres been any ott posts. Actually for a non win its been very calm.

There are posts about poor individual performances. But I dont think they can be disagreed with. So what are these posts you refer to?

Dominating? Yeah we passed it around quite nicely at times, got in lots of good situations yet barely tested their keeper. Walton, however, made two or three good stops and we came out the right side of a marginal off-side decision.
It's all very well being the better side but we are not finishing our moves. If Philogene doesn't score from distance or Clarke as a sub, we barely bother the vidiprinter.

In isolation,a point at Millwall is fine. It's the fact that it's the same problems with the performance week in,week out. A 6 out of 10 from the team when sometimes its enough to win but not always. Its dull, uninspiring football, with the same players underperforming time after time. I think its been a generally measured assessment of the game to be honest, although I am not on here all the time so may have missed any negative hyperbole.
Really poor summer recruitment (again) is really hurting us. The fact we are 3rd says more about how poor the league is as opposed to how good we have been. Really frustrating that if only a proper striker and another decent CM addition had been signed (dont get me started on Cajuste) I truly believe we would be flying like Cov are.

I would argue that yesterday was different to what has gone before.

In that we actually created very little in the way of scoring opportunities. We got into really good positions in the final third but that final ball or final decision was poor.

The discussion on here, and rightly to a point, has been one of not taking the scoring opportunities we have created during a match. Yesterday, we had barely 'any' scoring opportunities.

Talk of a new striker needed based on yesterdays match is moot. A striker needs service and we, as a team, provided very little.

So, I look at yesterday as a match where we did actually play well, looked pretty solid and dealt, generally, with the threat Millwall offer well. However, we lacked in our creativity department.

I thought Cajuste had one of his better games this season yesterday, hopefully steps in the right direction towards the player we were expecting.

Personally,if we could send him back in Jan I would. Worryingly you could also say the same about Akpom and Azon.

I don’t know, he shows flashes of the player we expected and was better yesterday, I would keep him and he can change games.

Akpom looks a 9 to me, despite what the player says ! and I would play him there from now and see what happens.

Azon doesn’t look upto this level to me so if I sent anyone back would be him.

I do agree regarding Akpom. The sticking point appears to be Mckenna with him though....with Hirst out id certainly be playing him as the 9 over Azon,it juat seems so obvious,a player who has scored goals in this league before....

Akpom could be a number 9 for us but we would have to play in a different way when attacking. He is probably the quickest of the three CFs so we would need to be quick in the counter attack. Currently we don't move the ball quick enough to employ his assets.

I just think most of us are more frustrated than overly negative. We see the quality throughout the squad, and because we love the club, we're desperate to see the team perform. Last season, although disappointing, was basically a free hit and we all soon realised that it was a step too far, too quick.
This season, we were clear favourites to get promoted and personally, I bought into the expectation. I honestly thought we would win the league and play most teams off the park. Maybe that was naive of me, this is a new squad of players and to expect them to gel immediately is unrealistic.
We can clearly dominate possession in most games but breaking down the opposition is proving more difficult.
I'm not sure I even want promotion this season. I think it would result in another break up of the squad and ultimately another relegation. Assembling a squad of players is the easy bit, building a team is more complicated and that takes time.
If we can keep the owners on board and their vision alive, we should trust McKenna to build and nurture a squad that is largely ready to make a go of the PL. It will be frustrating at times, as we are seeing this season, but I'm sure it will click. Whether that will come in time for promotion this year, only time will tell.

Keep the faith.

Fan are perfectly entitled to be critical especially when discussing a game which we dominated and screwed up.

Just to add
Akpom, Azon unfortunatly, and especially McAteer have had plenty of chances. They all need upgrading quickly

It’s Millwall not Barcelona.

They were also without their best player.

It’s that we had the opportunity and failed to gain points on Boro that’s really frustrating. Millwall created very little and that’s mainly down to our solid defence but our lack of attacking threat was the biggest concern for me.

When Philogene isn’t scoring worldies from outside the box, I’m really not sure where our goals are going to come from. Even Nunez has stopped being effective from free-kicks.

Reminiscent of Preston how they packed their area and put their bodies on the line to prevent any shots at goal. Both matches were disappointing to fail to win (let alone lose at Preston) but also explain why both teams are/were in the play off places.
