2 occasions I recall, Stoke away in 97 or 98 it was later in winter than this but bitingly cold, more of a cold wind than anything as I remember. And the home leg of the league cup semi final against Brum in early 2001. I was in the corner of the north stand and some bloke near me yelled out 'fúcking hell, it's so cold you could grate parmesan on my scrotum!'

There was a home game against Stockport in the late 90s that I wasn't sure I was going to survive.
You beat me to it. I immediately thought of that game, we lost that 2-0 and it’s quite frankly the worst I’ve ever felt at Portman Road both inside and out. It was a wet, cold and thoroughly miserable evening

FA Cup 3rd Round at Bristol Rovers 97/98. Rain, hail stones and an open away end. Hid behind the advertising hoarding at one point. Still no idea how that game carried on...
Remember that one. We changed lanes at one point on the M4 without moving the steering wheel.

Didn’t go to that but did do Bristol Rovers away Jan 85 at a burnt down Eastville. Snow, ice everywhere and it was numbingly cold.
Coventry away Dec 92 was desperately cold too. I went with Mrs C after visiting her Leicester cousins and had the mother of all hangovers. Sat in the main stand freezing. I purchased a couple of bovrils at half time and they just about kept us going - the warmth of the cup being far nicer than the heated mud they contained. I think it was that game. Finished a 2-2 draw

I think I went to that match as I was living in Eastville at the time about 1/4 mile from the stadium. I can't be sure as I was only a young lad. Did a 17 year old Jason Dozzell score?

I'm glad someone else remembers the League Cup tie against WBA, that was the first game that came into my mind. Absolutely frozen but it set up the famous tie against Arsenal, so was worth it.

He did. Brennan belted in the winner from about 30 yards late on
Frozen pitch at Portsmouth? Wimps. Check this out. And it’s no where near as bad as Eastville 78

I cna't remember the year or even if it was us who was playing, but I remember watching a game in the mid 00's at the National Hockey Stadium and it was absolutely pissing it down and there was no roof for the away end. Was soaked through.

Actually, think it was the defender who broke his leg not the keeper in that collision.
Shilton and McCall played in the cup game the following season which was an evening game. Thompson put one in the top corner from somewhere near the halfway line helped by Shilton being well past it at that that stage.
Correct, it was the defender who broke his leg. And it was late Feb. Sun was shining. Doesn’t look cold on these highlights. Perhaps being hungover was a factor in my freezing state.

All good in the first half, but then the snow came and it absolutely tipped it down. Was covered in snow and soaked to the bone. Camera's and Lenses were in the airing cupboard for 2 days after drying out.

And here’s Thommo’s thunder bastard past Shilton the following season:

I was going to add that I don't remember it being cold but I was probably right at the front of Churchmans as my mates were mainly shorter than I was.
Scarborough at the old Theatre of Chips. Wind from the East. I had a newspaper with me and ended up wearing it as lagging. Got an Oxo from the tea hut and it was cold by the time I got back to the stand.

January 1972 at home vs West Ham Feet were bloody freezing, At half time I ran round the practice pitch behind the west stand to try and get them warm, along with everything else. Ipswich won 1 - 0

Yes, all I remember of that Birmingham match was that we left ten minutes early because I was complaining of the cold that much. There was heavy snowfall that night.

There was a bit of thunder and lightning as well while we waited outside for the ground to open as the ref to completed the pitch inspection.
