does the reference to "hoofd" suggest a target man?

Translated version: Ipswich Town has submitted a permanent offer to Leeds United for Joël Piroe. The player could make the move, but—as previously mentioned—he doesn't have the Championship in mind as his next step. Ipswich can continue searching. The deal is off for now.

Poll: Following Saints game, when will Ipswich have their next permanent signing?

at least it demonstrates that we are still after a CF, and a high calibre one at that.
Is there any reason we haven't seen any rumours about a bid for Vipotnik form Swansea? Is he a bad egg or something?

Ugh, it's such a tricky one.

Piroe is definitely an ambitious signing, and one that we should be aiming for. But then there's the question of how firmly against a Championship deal Piroe is.

I really don't envy the balancing act of trying to be ambitious, whilst remaining realistic, especially in the face of players who don't want to move here.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

I have been shouting his name all window. Think he would be great here.

If he doesn't want to come here, then we move on. Shame though, as I reckon he would get us up and be able to stay with us in the PL.

He’ll be alright once he’s had a good think about it

He shouldn’t be against it. He’s good in the Championship, but can’t get in a team near the bottom of the PL. He needs to be realistic about his level (he’s not quick/physical enough for the PL even if he is a nice footballer, imo).

He has only started two Premier League games this season, and those both in August. He hasn’t scored this season and been on the bench for the rest of EPL games bar one which he missed due to injury.

Come to Ipswich and he has two chances to make an impact. Scoring the goals to gain promotion and scoring goals to keep us up next.

Signing for Ipswich is very much in his interest. Hope it happens before Preston game wouldn’t want to go into that game with the prospect someone likely to be dropped from 25 man squad on the day the window closes. These uncertainties probably contributed to our less than impressive start to the season.

Edit Every Ipswich squad needs a Dutchman.

Another ex gold boot player. Would that be 3 in the squad or 4?

Not sure what that really says about our current striking options that we’re prepared to spend the best part of 7 figures, maybe close to 8 figures when it’s clear that whilst he might be a slight improvement, he wound t be able to step up to the Prem.

This is my concern. Another player who has already proven he wouldn’t be good enough if we went up. Dan,although only a loan is another,if we went up we really wouldn’t want him, neither are Prem players. Least Dan we could jettison. We couldn’t if we have paid big bucks for one. We also have Akpom, who we are obliged to buy if we go up and he can’t even cut it in the championship nowadays.

Well, quite. But is Piroe on a 4 year deal and probably close to pushing £10m the answer when we’ll be looking to replace him in 6 months time?
