Norwich City have signed striker Mohamed Toure from Danish club Randers on a four-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee, thought to be about £2.6m.

If they can what? Sign some more unknown dross like the majority of their squad?

We can. If we aren’t picky, overpay and aren’t bothered about him improving the squad.

Yeah, been hearing a lot about him, really good by all accounts.

11 in 44 for Randers and 2 in 5 for Australia isn't all that bad.

With Makama seeming half decent, and Ahmed seeming to have hit the ground running, I wouldn't say their attacking signings this season have been dross.

Don’t worry. If he turns out to be any good we’ll have him off them in the summer

Didn't mean to upvote for the record.

Their transfer policy isn't that successful, hence them being in a relegation battle until recently.

Geniune question.

Do you think if we wanted him that he would have joined us instead of Norwich.

Or

Could it be, that what we want/need is a tad more difficult to obtain?

I'll agree with you there - previous seasons' signings have been a shocking waste of money.

£1.2m for Makama, who now has 13 in 30, isn't though. And he's playing against exactly the same teams as our strikers.

This is a very fair point.

Have we reached a stage now where unless we’re paying £10m for a player, they are written off?

how is it a fair point? we've signed plenty of very good players for under 10m just this season

KMc doesn't have us playing the same, what's to say in our system he would get that. All too easy to say he would have scored the same here, we'll never know could be more or less. Akpom for them could be top scorer in the league, we just don't know.

You could view it another way, Ashton cant seem to pay anything less than £10m for a player ( most players we've brought in ) ..they see us coming and up goes the price, and Ashton by and large pays it because " money's no object "?

Transfer Market says that ITFC have signed six players for a fee 2025/6. Three were under £10m.

Matusiwa was £11,5, McAteer £13.9 and Sindra £20m

It says the net transfer spend 25/26 is £30m.

So your first line doesn’t quite stack up, unless of course that website is wrong. Maybe we were the only club in for Sindra. The sellers said ‘we want £2m for him’. But Satan Ashton said ‘no, no, no, we want to spend £20m. There you go!’ Somehow, I doubt it works that way.

I was just wondering how our expenditure compares with say Coventry, Boror, Hull, Wrexham and Millwall in that top six. I dont get the impression they have spent anywhere near the amount we have. The net spend figure will surely be skewed by the two sales of Delap and Hutchinson, of a combined £60 +mins which i doubt any of the current top six would match.

Did you think about this post before or during the time you wrote it? Because it's clearly nonsense, mate, and a below averagely intelligent primate could work out that it's nonsense so if that never occurred to you when writing it then I worry for you.

Makama makes Hirst's touch and all round game look like Zidane. He's a big unit and a very willing runner in behind. That works at a small club like Norwich where teams aren't sitting in against them and are leaving space in behind, but he wouldn't be a good fit here.

The same teams yes, but none of them set up with a low block against Norwich, and yet we still managed to score against all the teams Makama has faced. You’d need to see Makama against a team set up like they do against us to make a fair comparison.

transfermarkt uses euros, so matusiwa was also under £10m, which leaves us with 2 out of 8 (not including the obligations, which are all also under 10m!)
