| Norwich Away 15:37 - Feb 8 with 10225 views | carlisleaway | This has been discussed on here earlier, but heard from a good police source yesterday. That everyone has to be bused in from Portman Road if you want to attend the Norwich away game at Carrow Road. Absolutely crazy, anyone thinks we are in for a riot. No thought for fans who live further away and once again giving into our two tier policing policy presently in action throughout the country. | | | | |

| Norwich Away on 16:05 - Feb 8 by EJP | There are no trains from Ipswich or stations between Ipswich and Norwich. I do wonder if the (alleged) buses decision is to ensure there’s no issues with the replacement bus service. If it’s club operated then surely it means the London/Essex/Ipswich based supporter doesn’t have to hope they can get on the one or two coaches available as rail replacement? |
Yes, that’s a factor understandably but there is another train line into Norwich from London and I was probably going to stay with a friend in Norwich the day before the game.

| Norwich Away on 16:55 - Feb 8 with 1214 views | HighgateBlue | There are a fair few fans that live in or near Norwich. Not millions, but a good few. This rule will prevent them from buying any away ticket that they might legitimately be entitled to. It will encourage them to attend the match in the home section. If there is genuinely a concern about security, this must surely be an absurd unintended consequence? And I would just add that having paid a pretty penny for my autistic son's birthday treat to go to the hospitality in the Bobby Robson Suite for the home East Anglian derby, there were several in there who were Norwich fans. This rule therefore seems to be a little lopsided. To limit the very manner in which the /legitimate/ away fans travel to the game seems mad. I won't be going, but I wouldn't object to carrying whatever official papers they want me to carry, however distasteful that is for some. If I can identify myself, and I'm on the club's database, what does it matter what flipping vehicle I arrived in? | | | |

Doesn't make it right or moral just because there is a precedent.

You're telling me they are going to make someone who lives 10 minutes outside of Norwich to travel to Portman Road, to get on a bus and travel back the same way?

| Norwich Away on 17:13 - Feb 8 with 1134 views | Reuser_is_God | Think this is pretty common knowledge. If it does turn out to be true then this game should be boycotted by all of us. Unfortunately though we have more than enough dribblies who will just accept it & go. | |

They’ve made people walk round with the Ipswich fans on a route march when they need to get back to the station or live in another direction etc A brilliant job by the usual suspects in making things crap for the rest of us.

This one hasn't but I would think the authorities would be getting advice from the clubs and police in South Wales and Hampshire on the practicalities of such a policy.

Nope. There was another time where there was no trains but people had the choice of getting there, many went on the coaches of course - and you didn’t have to collect your tickets.

Scum FC and scum plod wanted the Friday night. Scum plod even offered coach and horses pub as official away pub. ITFC and Ipswich plod wanted nothing to do with a Friday night.

You'd like to think a bit of common sense would be used if the club see there are some fans based in Norwich, and they would just send them their tickets. However, I suppose they wouldn't know where to draw the line when it comes to how close a fan lives to Norwich. The only reason they're doing this is surely because there are no trains. Hopefully, it's a 1 off.

Yeah I've been to do that myself when I didn't need to. Very different from to making people travel to the game from a different county no matter where they live.

| Norwich Away on 17:33 - Feb 8 with 1027 views | vinceg | I was going to head up the night before as got loads of mates in Norwich. Stay over, then discreetly wend my way to the game, possibly wearing something with a splash of yellow on it (yuk), and a pair of gloves with an extra finger. Already booked the hotel too | | | |

Question to the club, when we last played Norwich away loads of tickets were given to Sponsors and those associated with the club. Will these so called supporters be made to travel by coach, the club quickly want our support on Tuesday night away games and getting home late in the morning.

It won’t prevent anyone from buying a ticket if they have the points. It will just make it a massive inconvenience to drive to Ipswich, get the coach to and from the game and then drive back from Ipswich. You would think the club would arrange multiple starting points for the coaches; Ipswich, Stowmarket, Diss, Bury, Newmarket, Lowestoft etc.

Could we not pile on with a load of emails to the club suggesting different starting locations with a rendezvous if necessary . Prehaps someone whose got good letter writing skills could produce a template for everyone?

I think the Supporters Club has several branches in Suffolk , maybe even Norfolk. They should get involved in the transport.

At the last Norwich away game, Fabio Wardly was sat near us. If he goes by car, bagsy I travel with him because Norwich fans won't want to mess with him.

Not for years. The new system has killed away travel for the indies too. Understandable but the club couldn’t give branches a block of tickets unless everyone had the correct points. Supporters club and Halesworth branch are relative strangers anyway. Not sure if Leiston was resurrected properly and can’t remember the last time I saw a bus from bury or Felixstowe etc

| Norwich Away on 15:52 - Feb 8 by Funge | Assuming legitimate (and I've heard something similar), this is the sort of thing that both us, and those clowns up the 140, need to push back on, firmly, against the pitiful Norfolk & Suffolk plod. It's a game of football, which, frankly, has been treated with such trepidation by the plod since the Maundy Thursday game in 2011, that an outsider would assume Boca were playing River Plate. Sunday kick-offs, being kept in at the end of the game, having to take the 'scenic' route in from Norwich Station to the away end past Trowse railway depot.... Mental, mental overkill. Why on earth bother going? Sitters has mentioned previously it's the worst away day out there, and he's right... except, of course, in counter to my whinging above, it will very likely be the best away day this year, which I suppose is the point. That Thursday night was brilliant after the game though, the most off my tits I've ever been for a Town game, proper dust up on the bridge going to the railway station. It was like back to the 80s for that night. When you're waiting to get into the Drum and Monkey and you see though the window they're stood on the pool tables singing The Fash at 5pm you know it's going to kick off. Everybody was absolutely hammered. [Post edited 8 Feb 20:06]
