This has been discussed on here earlier, but heard from a good police source yesterday. That everyone has to be bused in from Portman Road if you want to attend the Norwich away game at Carrow Road. Absolutely crazy, anyone thinks we are in for a riot. No thought for fans who live further away and once again giving into our two tier policing policy presently in action throughout the country.

Absolute boll0cks.

Ashton, stop licking your own ring for a change, and maybe actually do something about this. I know you read my posts, Mark.

Will I be allowed off the bus once I have my ticket, should I get one, so I can drive or will we all be shackled?

If this is the case and I assume it will be, including having to travel back to Ipswich to get the ticket if you live elsewhere. Our fans really need to stand up and make our voices heard.

It is an absolute farce for what is a very tame derby match, where there is rarely any trouble.

I'm confused....so you can't drive to somewhere nearby and walk to the turnstile and go in? That would be odd and not sure how they can stop that.

No.

Get on coach. Go to Norwich.

Somewhere along the line after the coach leaves Ipswich and arriving in Norwich, the coach steward will give you your ticket.

Leave aside whether they should they absulolutely can assuming they follow the model of South Wales plod. They call it a "bubble" game, fans are forced to go to the stadium to be bussed in/out.

People in the UK don't seem to appreciate how much power we give the police (who largely don't abuse it tbf) but is why some of us are reluctant to give them any more powers than they need. (ID cards, anti protest laws etc.)

New powers seem fine until some knob goes for some over reach and bang, we are being treated like criminals because of the perceived dangers of a handful of dickheads. Far easier than the police actually policing a game.

If the club and or supporters club endorse it then shame on them.

You'd like to think a bit of common sense would be used if the club see there are some fans based in Norwich, and they would just send them their tickets. However, I suppose they wouldn't know where to draw the line when it comes to how close a fan lives to Norwich.

The only reason they're doing this is surely because there are no trains. Hopefully, it's a 1 off.

Given there are no trains then by all means encourage use of the club buses (concessions, offer breakfast beforehand). But don't make it compulsory.

I live nowhere near Ipswich but have a hotel booked and plans for Friday evening and after the game, meaning there's no way I can drive to Ipswich on the Saturday, before being herded back to Ipswich and driving back to Norwich. Utter silliness...I shall be writing a strongly worded email if it comes to pass.

The more the public are treated like violent morons, the more they are likely to behave that way.

The Police know this, but they go along with it because it gives them greater license to act heavy handedly which is quite a turn-on for exactly the sort of police who shouldn't be policing.

I would love you to explain what you mean by "our two tier policing policy".

The Police have been putting stupid restrictions on matches at FPR and the Budgie cage for years, a ong time before this Government.

It is ironic that the first Prime Minister who is a genuine football fan should get bashed with this.

If it was any other month i'd say a bit much

but considering we COULD get promotion sorted at that game, it's slightly understandable whilst also being OTT at the same time.

COULD get promoted that game I’ll have a pint of whatever you have been drinking later please.

That Thursday night was brilliant after the game though, the most off my tits I've ever been for a Town game, proper dust up on the bridge going to the railway station. It was like back to the 80s for that night.

When you're waiting to get into the Drum and Monkey and you see though the window they're stood on the pool tables singing The Fash at 5pm you know it's going to kick off. Everybody was absolutely hammered.

I can’t believe I am reading this.

So we have to drive from Oxfordshire to Ipswich to catch a coach to Norwich for a 12.30 kick off!

How many coaches are they going to need for 2000 fans? How are they going to sort out the tickets (with peoples names on, if that is true) on the correct coaches.

Hilarious.

2000 divided by 50 is 40 coaches.

Each person will be allocated a coach, so coach steward will be given the envelopes with name on with the ticket inside.

Am told decisions are yet to be made on the derby and whatever the police would like to do, the club has its say on the matter and the convenience of fans will be the main consideration.

This has been proposed in the past and ultimately never happened after fans made their thoughts clear. Again, if I remember rightly, I think the club was firmly against it then as well.

If anyone thinks fans support it, they need their head examining. I know there are loads who blindly jump to their defence without thinking but on this occasion anyone in favour really needs to give their head a wobble.

Surprised they would need this thread when common sense tells them it's an absolutely ridiculous suggestion that shouldn't even be up for consideration. We're talking about a fan base that does a lot of miles, has travelled to Blackburn and Pompey for postponements already, and many of whom are not based in Ipswich. Statistically and behaviourally there's absolutely no evidence to justify this being proportionate to risk. Absolutely ridiculous if that's the outcome and I would imagine there will be a significant pushback and repercussions.

My hope is that the use of bubble-buses doesn't become permanent after just one use - though it probably will. The exacerbating factor with this fixture is the lack of trains. Both clubs are near railway stations, so the train helps to concentrate a significant proportion of fans which aids policing. Neither club has a reputation for violence.

If the club is laying on coaches to save Greater Anglia's being over subscribed (you can't squeeze in more people by standing on the coach) then cost is a concern. Look at the current prices for away trips. In this case cost should not be more than the cheapest rail ticket option - simply because it is a rail issue.

I'll come from Yorkshire. I don't want the bubble at all.

I doubt they would need it, club know how unpopular it would be, but evidence of the strength of fans' feelings won't do any harm. I can't see it happening.

Well yes, but moving on. Don't the clubs pay extra dosh for the derby policing? Why isn't that spent on, er, extra policing?

It's Ipswich-Norwich ffs. Aye it's a bit leery, we all get a bit excited, and there's always a small handful of dickheads. It it was the 1970s or early 80s I'd kind of get it but come on ffs plod.
