Therefore a good performance today is essential. 3 points and get the taste of defeat out of our system for a very testing 2 weeks.

some will tell you that no game is "must win" unless the end result makes it mathematically impossible. after last weeks showing i really hope they come out with rockets up their arses and show what we are all about, and do a professional job.

I'm not convinced at all it will be 90 points required. I can see it being more around the mid 80s this season

It's not must win, ffs. After today we've still got a third of the season to go, 15 games and 45 points to play for. Nobody is currently on course to reach 90 points so I'm not sure why you're assuming we'll need 90 points for second. I wish our fans were capable of getting a bit of perspective, treating every single game as though the result will either make or break our season isn't healthy.

| I know another slip up today on 09:09 - Feb 21 with 933 views | Pinewoodblue | Since the summer transfer window closed we have gathered 2 pts a game. If we have any target it is to continue to do so and trust that it will be sufficient. We have no say in how many pts Coventry can achieve, we have taken 6 pts of them, we can’t do anymore. We can take 3 pts off Middlesbrough and to do so might be essential. We csn also take points off Hull & Millwall. Judging by your, and others, comments we don’t have a United trilogy, coaching staff, players & fans All together. May I suggest that those who are not fully onboard take a break from commenting, especially after games we don’t win. Also stop expressing doubts ahead of every game. Keep the faith. | |

Please relax. There's 16 games of this left. If the moaning brigade start all the 'must win for me Clive' stuff now it's going to be unbearable.
| I know another slip up today on 09:37 - Feb 21 with 830 views | gosblue | Come on Town. We need to shut that crowd up. An early goal or two would be great but let's not leave the back door open, so we may need to be patient. I would like to see Town playing in blue (its our identity) and having the right boots on. We played on that pitch last week so there's no excuses this time and there's more rain coming in from 3:00 o'clock. As for us fans, our performance was p!ss poor on Friday. We need to do better. | I know another slip up today on 09:45 - Feb 21 with 790 views | Guthrum | The way I look at it, we have a budget. Town need another 36 points to reach the 90 which will, this season, very likely guarantee automatic promotion. We have 16 games left = 48 points. Thus we can afford to drop another 48 - 36 = 12 points. One loss and four or five draws, or two and three, will get us there or thereabouts. That is entirely feasible if our squad fitness and form holds up. Doesn't matter who we get the wins against, tho Hull, Millwall and Boro (all home games) would be most useful. There may well be more leeway than that if Coventry return to staggering or Boro's run has come to an end. Perhaps as many as five points. Apart from Boro, all the teams in contention have weaknesses (Cov on the road, Millwall against top teams, Hull lose rather then drawing, we draw too often). Even Boro tend to get on very patchy runs between their winning ones. | |

But do you apply that to the appointed social media police etc too? There's people on both sides who don't do anything but make things worse. Blowing up one tweet/post/idea as if it's commonplace. There's being on board and being able to discuss football properly. Killing that off to appease a few bellends makes the whole forum etc moribund.

We should sweep these type of teams away. Some of these games people massively over think. We shouldn’t better than 90% of the division. So take the game to them and we will win.

I agree to a point failed to show our true potential today has to be the day, Win and it's two wins against creditable opponent that will be a statement of intent and instill faith in the fan base, We've been playing catch up all season the Blackburn and pompey games have not helped our cause, The size of the gap can not increase today, [Post edited 21 Feb 10:03]

If all the other teams win all their remaining matches, I honestly can't see where our next point is coming from. Unless we start panicking, we're gonna struggle to finish in the top half of the table, let alone the playoffs. More worrying is that Norwich are set to make and win the playoffs and are likely to continue that trajectory next season and qualify for European football, while most of our fanbase have their heads in the sand, happy-clapping our once-great club into L1 again, or worse. Duh.
| I know another slip up today on 10:13 - Feb 21 with 618 views | jas0999 | The games are coming thick and fast and with just over two months of the season left, we need to improve our away form quickly. KM quite clearly prioritised todays game after an underwhelming performance last week, so I’m expecting a much better performance today and hopefully three points. A defeat would certainly be bitterly disappointing. | | | |

Wrexham are doing pretty well but I take your overall point. It's a simple equation really. If we are good enough to win promotion we will win enough of these games. If we are not, we won't. The games in hand muddy the water but we're effectively around a win off the top two all being equal with 16 games to go. That shows we're more than capable of being right up there with how we have played so far. Most fans seem to think we've underperforming so far, in which case effectively third with a third of the season to go should be perfect when we hit our stride. Promotion here we come!

85 points is likely to be the target for automatics. We're no where close to 'must win' yet - and our result will not stand in isolation. Today (and every game from now on) will be about our result relative to the result of all the teams around is challenging for performance.
| I know another slip up today on 10:32 - Feb 21 with 502 views | FrimleyBlue | I appreciate those who say its not a must win. And they are correct However its also one you really don't want to not win as for every slip up we make we need those above us to slip up twice more. Cov arent great away but have a solid home form and run in Boro bar last week were on a run and no reason why that cant continue Millwall and hull have joined the party So whilst no. Not a must win. We dont have the luxury of being able to not win most of our remaining fixtures. | |

Can you name any team in the history of football that has had "the luxury of being able to not win most of their remaining fixtures" with about one third of a season still to play?

Obviously ive worded it really badly. My point was that whilst a third of season sounds alot.. its not when you actually think how many games it actually is. And weve been playing chase since the summer window closed. Both cov and boro had blips and despite us having a top champ form since that window closed.. we still find ourselves chasing. So yeah. We are it appears going to need a lovely big run of wins from these remaining games.

Fair enough. Needless to say, if we go on a lovely big run of wins, as Axeldalai says, we'll have earned our promotion. I don't think we have quite the best team in the league at the moment, but I do think we have the best manager, so I think we're in a fantastic position. Support the team and keep the faith and all that.
