(From Ashton's interview) Fair dos to the club for not rolling over on this. Absolute joke of a proposal that should be resisted at every level imho. I'd happily suggest a fundraiser to do a JR on the decision if it did happen. Such a backwards way of policing - putting restrictions on all Towen fans because of a concern of poor behaviour of a small fraction.

Not necessarily. | |

Are the police suggesting they can't handle a dozen spotty teenagers who have been on the Fosters and chalk dust? They should be more concerned about Leif Davis playing. His violent conduct is off the scale.

So Norfolk plod were happy to police a Friday night game and all that entails but want a bubble because more people than normal will drive to a 12:30 KO. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, unless they also wanted to bubble the Friday.

For a Friday game, a higher proportion will get the train, so it’s easier monitor everyone in one place.

What I've sent to the PCC for Norfolk - will post up any response. --------------- Sarah, It is with dismay that I heard Mark Ashton being interviewed on Radio Suffolk talking about the arrangements for the upcoming Norwich v Ipswich match. Whilst nothing is yet confirmed, it was clear from the interview that consideration is being made for a "bubble" type arrangement where fans are forced to travel by coach to the match. As a measure I strongly object to such an arrangement and I note that such arrangements are essentially only legal as they are made a condition of entry - the police effectively hiding behind civil laws knowing full well the legality of such an arrangement would likely lead to challenges in courts given there is no legislation I know of that enables the police to dictate how people choose to travel when they go about their lawful business. I also note the disgusting way West Midlands police recently acted in targeting away fans based on nothing more than internet searches. IF the police have genuine concerns for public safety I would expect them to police those appropriately - identifying and dealing with individuals - not imposing draconian measures on fans who have in the vast majority of cases never been involved in football violence. I would urge you in your position as PCC for Norfolk to do whatever you can to ensure such proposals are not put forward. A number of Ipswich fans will be Norfolk residents and should such proposals go ahead it could lead to similar draconian measures being placed on Norfolk residents if we accept "bubble" type arrangements now. I have copied in a leading lawyer who I will be contacting for advice on any legal challenges should this proposal go forward.

Although league position doesn’t necessarily translate into performance the following season. Take is in 1999/00 and 2000/01 as an example (albeit that’s probably more of an exception). But it does devalue the league stage. The POs do already. Yet the POs at excitement which translates to more money for the league, so it’s an inevitable direction of travel in our profit-crazed world. I wonder if anyone’s worked out the carbon footprint of extending the season into the POs (or just for football in general come to that).

Oh! Obviously a completely different set of circumstances (them being quite good, us being completely crap).

I doubt Coach and Horses would have agreed to that, and nor would Norfolk plod, since the FC&Canary is the very next pub up the road which is definitely home fans only even when they arent playing, and youll all meet each other when it intersects with Carrow road as you all walk along towards the ground.
