The song is vile. It is clearly ‘something’ and needs to be called out. Or maybe you think it is fine?

Spoke to a couple of friends that support Sheff Wed and were on that train, from what they said a rather stunned young family who were just out for the day have passed on the incident to BTP. Carbon copy of the incident at Plymouth back in 2021 which I think led to arrests. Behaviour like this makes it more likely Norfolk Police do insist on a bubble for the derby.

As Ashton said last night, they are trying hard to push back on Norfolk police insisting on the bubble but ultimately Norfolk Police still have the final call and could reject our proposal. If this makes press (as the Plymouth incident did) ahead of a decision being made it’s not likely to enhance our case is it.

I've been going regularly for a while and hadn't heard it for a long time until this season - both times on the train to Sheffield for blades and then today's game. Glad it was reported.

People aren’t making it into something it’s not. They’re saying it’s vile and thankfully some of those hearing it are reporting it. There’s no excuse.

The issue isn't that every club has a nasty element, the issue is a specific song sang by a handful of Town fans. Does it shame the club? No, probably not. As you say every club has their dickheads. There's no excusing this one though. It's completely out of order. I hate violence but must say, if one of these pathetic cowardly morons got a slap I wouldn't mind.

You never have to look very far on social media to find vile, toxic abuse. Just today, Cov fans leaving helicopter emojis on Leicester posts. A Southampton fan making fun of Lampard’s dead mom. It’s grim stuff.

All of those chants are fairly unpleasant and unnecessary, but they're on a whole different level to celebrating the fact that a footballer who dared to come out as gay, and was the victim of some heinous treatment as a result.

I’m not interested in ‘every team’ and nobody is making this into something it isn’t. We have a group of supporters that are ignorant, violent and odious. They represent the club. You and me and that shouldn’t be hidden from. They are also corrosive to the extent of why would you want to listen to that or bring a child to an environment like that? This minority needs rooting out. A lifetime ban and a criminal record would suffice though a thorough limb breaking beating would probably get the message into thick skulls more effectively. Justin Fashanu was a brave young man who took his life at the age of 37 in 1998. And people want to sing abuse about him? Perhaps somebody can explain to me why and that they get from it? Words matter.

You are right of course. This sort of behaviour usually occurs after a day on the lash and taking of the white powder. I’m not sticking up for those that sang it either.

| Fashanu song on train there on 07:31 - Mar 15 with 3924 views | Zx1988 | In case anyone isn't already aware; a surreptitious video and a text message to BTP on 61016 will usually do the job. I've had cause to share some information with BTP in the past and, after a little back-and-forth by text, they were able to meet the train at the very next station and deal with the issue. | |

I'll bet none of them even remember Justin Fashanu, which would make it very weird behavior.

Yes, he had a trial with us in 1990 and played a game for the reserve side. We didn't sign him because of concerns about his knee, which had forced him to quit professional football a few years before. If the neanderthals who persist in singing this filfth are not put off by the moral repugnantcy of the song, then perhaps this might cause them to think again.
