| Blue Action Communicating Better Than The Club on 14:28 - Mar 25 by ElderGrizzly | Yet their statement was undermined almost immediately by Reform saying they had evidence of an invitation. So, yes if they were trying to stop with their statement of last night when it was proven false within minutes that's not really an option. Well it is, but we just assume complicity by default. |
That's the most damning part of it - the alleged evidence of an invitation, and Führage himself saying he was invited. If these two points were not true, given how damaging they've been to the club since yesterday evening's 'statement', you'd expect a strongly-worded rebuttal, and a thinly-veiled threat of further action.

| Blue Action Communicating Better Than The Club on 14:38 - Mar 25 by Ewan_Oozami | What is it do you think people wanted to hear? The statement doesn't mention anything about Farage's views, or what BA think about Reform - it's a perfect non-political statement from a community who are all-in on ITFC and are disappointed that the club hasn't been clearer about an issue that has generated nationwide comment. Not even something along the lines that the club is absolutely not happy with they way they seemed to have been used for political purposes... |
lots of people seem to want to hear their own views parroted back to them. if the club doesn't echo their views then it's bad. but that isn't possible in a world of political disagreement and when political views across supporters are diverse. the club has said that it doesn't take a political position and that farage attending a stadium tour isn't an endorsement. to go beyond that is to get into political statements. the 'club' shouldn't think anything about reform - it's a football club not a political campaign.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

So do you think BA's statement is political? And if the club wants to see itself s non-political, it should certain say something about not being happy that the club's image is being used for political purposes. And if you want people who want to hear their own views parroted back to them, I can think of no better exponent of that than Farage himself....

The evidence is alleged. Let’s see it. Otherwise, don’t we run the risk of adopting guilty until proven innocent? The concept of we have evidence and not producing it and the accused then having to refute and deemed guilty if they don’t seems alien to me. But I defer to those learned in English law who know far more about this sort of stuff than me. I think the BA statement is excellent btw. Whoever wrote that should get a job on ITFCs Comms team.

No longer alleged, but stated as fact: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/art "Speaking to reporters at a campaign event in Leeds, Farage said: "I received an invitation from Ipswich, who knew I was in the area doing a big event."" Given the huge fallout caused by the apparent 'misspoken' statement from the club yesterday morning, you'd expect them to have been all over this if it was untrue.

You've come across with this logic in a few places and I don't think it's fair or reasonable. If we want to deal with just facts, Nigel Farage and his social media team attended Portman Road and shot a load of promotional content. That's it. Everything else is alleged and disputed. Ipswich have claimed through initial reports to the press that he wasn't invited. Alleged, no evidence provided. They said he bought and paid for the shirt to be printed. Again, all alleged, no evidence. If we hold every piece of information to the same standard you've held the journalists, my allegations that he was greeted personally by Mark Ashton and given a cheeky tug in the directors box before being given a shirt is just as valid as the clubs official account or the Athletics.

Have you been on a stadium tour. Try taking down the players shirts and putting ones up with yours and see what happens? Even better if you can promote something along side it.

The club have allowed Farage and Farage alone to use them for political purposes during an election campaign.

No. I would have been equally as pissed off if ANY of the political parties or leaders had taken advantage of the club in this manner and most right minded people, I would hope, feel likewise. Cracking response B A.

i've said all along that the best place for the club would be to host no national politicians whatsoever. in fact i wouldn't want them to host anyone except the current mp and the council leader / officers. but if it had been polanski this place would hardly have noticed other than to praise the club. no calls for sackings, no thrown away shirts, no calls for us to miss out on promotion.

no, i'm making the point that many people on here are only concerned because it's someone they disagree with politically and / or hate. and they seem to think that the club should be a vehicle to reflect their political views back to them. i've also made the point that their political views are not typical of the wider fan base, so why exactly are they the ones whose views the club should prioritise?

I'd be lying if I said I'd be upset if Polanski was allowed the same treatment. Thats because I think he's a bloody amazing human who encourages inclusion and is trying to save the world from ***** like Farage. Hypocritical yep.

Reform have used the club's Intellectual Property, and private property, to make a promotional video. It's a commercial. Big difference between editorial socials and promotional use. Some say there's a grey area when it comes to public relations. This is not one of those grey areas. Reform's video is commercial. Categorically. There's no exemptions here and if the club didn't agree to them doing so they have legal grounds to make them remove said content. If the club don't do so it speaks volumes. Farage is more polarising than other politicians of course, but the issue would be the same if it were Starmer, Polanski or Lord Buckethead. I'd question the club in those circumstances just as I have done today after that seeing that video. At the risk of sounding like a dick, I know what I'm talking about on the legal side having worked in IP licensing rights clearance for over thirty years. And been good at it, before you say ;) [Post edited 25 Mar 21:24]

Lowhouse has a dim view of most twtd posters, so has to take the contrary view every time. Quite sad tbh. Like you, I'd be angry about any politician, other than the local mp, using the club in this way. But it's also remarkably dim to pretend that Farage isn't more polarising than other mps.
