While inviting a politician, particularly a controversial right wing one was a bad idea, then trying to cover it up by saying it was nothing to do with the club is suicidal.
If these are the facts, then yes, Ashton out (although maybe the club's lawyers are looking though his contract with a fine toothcomb to make sure we don't have to give him a huge payout.

The only ray of sunshine I can see in this god-awful mess is once again, NF shows himself to not give a monkey's about the consequences of his actions. You'd hope that something of the calibre of this (especially given the latest revelations and ongoing denial by Ashton) would fit the description of 'bringing the club into disrepute' and tip the balance in favour of Gross Misconduct.
