| so Mark Ashton hosted Farage for lunch... 16:31 - Mar 26 with 8858 views | maxslaro | completely damning Athletic report... Key details: The invitation to Farage was made by an associate of Ashton. Farage was met by a club executive and then had lunch with Ashton and Luke Werhun, the club’s COO. The club gifted the politician six ‘Farage 10’ Ipswich shirts free of charge. Members of staff, some senior, have made formal complaints to Ipswich’s human resources department over the stunt. https://www.nytimes.com/athlet | | | | |

Why not just hold your hands up and admit it straight from the start and apologise for misreading the room? Instead you chose to fob us off with lies (Assuming this is true of course. It would explain the row of shirts in the changing room).

The idea MA wouldn't have been complicit, or at least very aware, of all this and that Farage opportunistically came in with a camera was for the birds. Ashton out.

Maybe this is all a wheeze dreamt up by Ashton to get people to hand their ST's back in so he can charge more for them on the gate? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

As with politicians, it's aways the cover up that does for them in the end.

Crap timing innit. This sheds more light on why the players were apparently so pissed off. Kieran’s got his work cut out getting the focus back on the football and getting the players ready for Brum. You can bet he’ll get questions in the pre-match presser. It’s the last thing he and the team need.

While inviting a politician, particularly a controversial right wing one was a bad idea, then trying to cover it up by saying it was nothing to do with the club is suicidal. If these are the facts, then yes, Ashton out (although maybe the club's lawyers are looking though his contract with a fine toothcomb to make sure we don't have to give him a huge payout. Hopefully this will not prove a distraction to what might happen on the field. [Post edited 26 Mar 17:06]

| so Mark Ashton hosted Farage for lunch... on 17:02 - Mar 26 with 1061 views | fab_lover | The only ray of sunshine I can see in this god-awful mess is once again, NF shows himself to not give a monkey's about the consequences of his actions. I'm sure he was asked not to put photos etc on social media; and certainly his organisation has leaked enough info to the press to destroy the official ITFC narrative. If this takes Ashton down (AS IT SHOULD) there might be a lesson there to others - NF will use you and have no regard to the consequences of doing so. Not that anyone with 2 brain cells didn't already know that, of course. | | | |

| so Mark Ashton hosted Farage for lunch... on 17:05 - Mar 26 with 990 views | NthQldITFC | Assuming this is true, and the lack of a proper response two days ago says to me it almost certainly is... I've always tended to be defensive of the club's choices in all matters, defensive of Ashton against David Brent comparisons, but this is just too much. Inviting that scumbag in to start with, rolling out the red carpet. And then the lies and the cover up, the arrogance, the effect on the players and the staff... I think... Ashton out Maybe this is a knee jerk reaction - can it be knee jerk after three days? Maybe an total open tearful apology would change my mind, but I don't think so. Don't think I'd trust it. Heartbreaking after all the club has achieved in the last four years or so. Absolutely heartbreaking. | |

This pissing season is just one big shíte. Postponed games, re-arranged games, doing well then a shít loss chucked in, doing well but fans crying still, no striker in in January, shit KO times and more. Looking forward to it ending.

Unfortunately - Ashton might have to fall on his sword here because this is not a good look and he is now torpedoing his relationship with the fanbase trying to cover for his mistake rather than owning it.

You'd hope that something of the calibre of this (especially given the latest revelations and ongoing denial by Ashton) would fit the description of 'bringing the club into disrepute' and tip the balance in favour of Gross Misconduct. That said, I don't know if super-salary CEO contracts are quite as discipline-heavy as those handed out to the hoi polloi.

At a time when we should be pushing for promotion, things like this will dis rail it. I think Ashton should apologise and potentially resign.
