Just ordered a curry.... 18:36 - Mar 28 with 2214 viewsBloots

....the wife is out on the lash.

Chicken palok, lamb bhuna, prawn madras, kulcha naan and pilau rice.

My usual, but with the extra bhuna as a treat. Standard.

90 mins delivery time though, gonna seem like longer.

What's your "go to" curry?

Korma or tikka masala.

Plain Jane. Don’t like spice.

With chips and rice.

Garlic and cheese naan.

Some Pom Bears in place of the poppadoms?

Pathia, Korma, or Ceylon

The best is 50% pathia, 50% korma. Don’t mix them together, keep separate on the plate but then you get the full range of sweet, spicy, citrusy, creamy etc.

- Chicken Rogan Josh
- Pilau Rice
- Bombay Potato
- Portion of Chips
- Plain Naan
- Poppadoms

And sometimes a vegetable samosa. Will usually nick a few spoonfulls of the missus chicken tikka starter as well

Beautiful stuff

Genuinely ruined my day that I think.

This is a great thread. Thanks Bloots.

Anyone ever tried breakfast curry? Now hear me out - I did in Malaysia/Penang. The curry was a mild vege one with a little side of rice and some odds and ends like small samosas.

It was lovely! And it set me up nicely for the days exertions. A bit of sight seeing in the morning, light lunch then afternoon snooze, books and beers listening to the sea. Then a Malaysian curry in the evening!

Have to say Mrs C got a bit worried when I had baked beans with the breakfast curry! Well, you’ve got to try new things!

Not breakfast curry but, breakfast Chinese. A very long time ago, we were restoring Battersea Arts Centre and we used to go for a traditional English fry up most days to a small cafe at the side of the Arts centre which was run by a Chinese bloke. He persuaded us one day to have a Chinese noodle breakfast . Game changing and possibly led to me only having the one heart attack later in life.

That’s on Lavender Hill, not far from Clapham J isn’t it. I’ve had breakfast there in the dim and distant! I’d loved to have tried a Chinese version! Nice one.

Dim Sum is the way to go for Chinese breakfast. Had it many years in Melbourne and was excellent ( like a morning tapas ). I have to say this thread is making my mouth water!

Chips is a disgrace unless it’s masala fries, but not many curry houses round here do them.

Yes Churchy, a very short walk from Clapham Junction. I had a flat on Battersea Rise so it was a short walk to work for me. The Arts centre was great - I believe it suffered bad fire damage some time ago- for films, comedy and plays and I loved working on a place that I used so much.

I took the opportunity to revist the area when we played Crystal Palace last season and it goes without saying that the place and its demographic has changed immensely.

I’ll bet it has. I worked in Wandsworth a long while ago now for a couple of years and the Clapham Junction area was one we spent a fair bit of time in - pubs mainly.

I know south London pretty well from my time working in parts of it. Good and bad. The usual mix. It’s a nightmare to drive it now. I was driven to Crystal Palace v Chelsea the other month and the journey + traffic was let’s say ‘exciting’.

Back to the god of food - curry there’s little I don’t like. Thinking of Swansea Blue’s post (sheep etc) I rarely have lamb curries unless I know the restaurant. Fat n gristle would be a good name for a Punk band but it’s not a good thing in a curry. Prawns don’t really agree with me and I’m not keen on texture/flavour either. Just about anything else, bring it on!

The biggest disappointment was Brick Lane. We got taken to reputedly the best Indian in the area. The service was poor, the food bang average. One of the best areas: Glasgow.

Long live curry!
